Apparently there was a Kraken game yesterday, and what was what fucked up the Light Rail train schedule. I left work an hour early at 3:30, and caught a #13 bus downtown to Westlake Station—only to find that the next northbound train was not for another 14 minutes! This was after arriving at Westlake Station at 3:48.
Had everything been on time, I'd have gotten to the AMC 10 in the U District for our 4:15 movie time with time to spare. Not that it
really mattered: AMC so reliably has seemingly endless trailers before movies that they were only about halfway through when I finally got to the theater, at about 4:25. The only real downside was not having any time to chat with Laney before the movie—she was already at the theater when I arrived at Westlake Station. When we returned to Capitol Hill after the movie, we stood outside the station there for a good ten minutes talking about stuff before we finally walked to our respective homes.
We did kind of come to the conclusion then that it was likely worth her while to join the same AMC Stubbs A-List monthly subscription I have long been a member of, because she sees movies with me often enough for it to pay for itself, even factoring in her per-screening senior discount and when we go to Discount Tuesdays. Shifting to a flat fee for both of us would actually lessen the need to target those Tuesdays as often as we can. After I finished writing my review, I sent her an email breaking down what she would have saved cumulatively since the beginning of the year had she been a subscription member: even with three different months where she did not see a movie in any AMC theater at all, her cumulative cost between January and September would have been at a 12% savings had she been an AMC Stubbs A-List member. So it didn't really take a lot of convincing.
Anyway. The movie we saw was excellent:
The Outrun. We both expected it to be good, but I think it exceeded both our expectations. It moved Laney perhaps even more than me, as its depiction of a well-meaning but messy and sometimes even dangerous drunk really reminded her a lot of her late mother. I don't have that kind of experience with a loved one at all, only stories from sober people I know who had those sorts of experiences in their own pasts.
I did wait a bit to write the review, because the season finale of
Slow Horses was available and I couldn't wait. Shobhit had dinner waiting and we ate while we watched. We also shared some of the gelato that I brought home from work over the weekend, and it turns out it's phenomenal. I opened the lemon flavor and damn, it's good.
Anyway I went to the bedroom to write the review after that.

In other news, I had to revert my post from Monday back to "Draft" status so it is no longer public, indefintiely. I'll make it public again once the stuff I shared in it, without thinking, is actually public information.
After I sent an email out to Merchandising at work later on Monday afternoon, with information about the Office Transition Team meeting I was in that morning, I got an email from Gabby the next morning. She had three different things she covered in that reply, but one of them was this:
I feel compelled to remind you 😊 that these details are confidential to PCC. Please no sharing details on external channels (Instagram, blogs, etc.) until / unless these details are shared publicly.
Well, shit. I see two possibilities here: she just sent that because she knows I share stuff online a lot and was just trying to get ahead of it. Or, what seems relatively likely, she actually saw that post and was finding a diplomatic way to indicate that I had already overstepped with my sharing.
Almost the entire post that day was about this, so there wasn't much sense in trying to edit it. I just changed it to Draft status, removing it from public view, without further comment. Honestly, with a long history of instances where I need an occasional reminder to be careful what I share here, it was kind of about time I got another reminder anyway. It's easy to blab without thinking. At least this is more of a potential near miss than anything I've actually fucked up by opening my big mouth.
