My evening last night was taken up entirely by my taking myself to see Harriet, which was both not bad and should have been better. I had to take the bus to the U District to make it to a 6:45 showing, which is later than I prefer—in terms of overall timing, it's always best of I can go straight there from work for a showing as early as 5:30, so I can get home afterward relatively early with enough time to write the review in a comfortable window before bed. In this case, while it did give me a chance to get home for about 45 minutes, make myself dinner and feed the cats while Shobhit was at work, it meant that I was not even able to start writing the review until 10 p.m., which is at a time I prefer already to be in bed, or at least getting ready to be.

It didn't help that a) the movie was two hours and four minutes long; b) that was preceded by twenty-four minutes of trailers; and c) I just barely missed the #49 bus at 45th & University, and the next one was not due for another 17 minutes. So, I hopped on the #44 that came 10 minutes later, transferred to Light Rail, and walked home from the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station. I figured out that by doing this, I ultimately got home a whopping three or four minutes faster than I would have had I just waited for that next #49. (Having to transfer really adds to a transit itinerary, even if one leg includes an express train from one neighborhood to the next that cuts what would otherwise be a 15-minute ride down to two minutes.)

Shobhit got home literally minutes after I started writing the review, but I was occupied by that for the next hour. I wasn't actually sleep until 11:37. I got up at 5:18, so I got less than six hours of sleep last night, which is also less than ideal, and I am spending the day a little more tired than usual. But, I got the review written outside of work time, and was able to send Claudia the link to my review, which she has been eager to read ever since she saw the movie herself two days ago. She laughed and said Jasper, her son, also mentioned how pearly-white the slave characters' teeth were.

I usually wait until Fridays to allow myself syrup sweeteners in my tea at work. I usually add vanilla syrup and lavender syrup to my Earl Grey tea with a bit of cream to make a delicious "London Fog" tea latte. But, at the moment I have a sample canister of Republic of Tea Golden Pumpkin tea bags, and for the fall this year I think I'll go through three such tea bags every Friday. There is not (yet?) a "pumpkin spice" syrup in our office kitchen like there has been in previous years, but there is still the vanilla syrup and a straight up cane syrup, which mix well to sweeten it along with the addition of Nutpods Pumpkin Spice Creamer, which nicely intensifies the pumpkin spice flavor.

I'm only telling you this because I have nothing else to write in the second-half portion of today's DLU. Except, I suppose, that I am meeting Laney and Jessica after work tonight for Happy Hour at Flatstick Pub in Pioneer Square, that location being more accessible for them via Light Rail (and easier for me to get home from as well) than the South Lake Union location I went to with coworkers last January. And, at 6:10 we have a reserved "tee time" for mini golf.

I'll probably see a movie tomorrow. And on Sunday, I shall bus to Bellevue to visit at Valerie's house and play a game she and Auntie Rose apparently really like called Quiddler. In addition, Auntie Rose apparently has a benign tumor that has been affecting her mobility, for which she will start radiation treatment on Monday. Valerie said that may or may not make her too tired for visits for a while after that, so I decided it best to make a real effort to see them on Sunday. Shobhit agreed to drove over there and come pick me up after he gets off work.
