travel weather
Yesterday I left work fifteen minutes early so I could bike to the AMC Seattle 10 in the U District in time to see the 4:50 showing of Hotel Mumbai, which was . . . very well done. Calling something like that "a good movie" makes me a little uneasy given the subject matter, but I do think it was absolutely worth watching -- and, honestly, more honest about how terrorist attacks like that happen than most movies are. Anyway, you can read my review if you want.
I basically got extra bike riding in yesterday, because riding home again after the movie was like doing my commute an extra time. Yesterday I rode my bike from home on Capitol Hill to work; then from work to the U District; and after the movie it was essentially my old commute home from work from before the office moved out of that neighborhood -- the theatre structure is even on the very same street, just five blocks further north.
I spent the next hour or so after I got home half an hour later, writing the review. And once I was done with that I was ready to start getting ready for bed. Can you believe it? I went a whole day without watching any TV shows! I mean, I did still spend two hours watching a movie so I'm not sure what difference that makes, really.
I thought I would be finally getting back on the bus for today's commute, as rain is in the forecast for this weekend, ostensibly starting today -- but, as of this morning, the only chance for rain today was in the late morning. It's even partly sunny as I write this, and the forecast even for tomorrow has changed just to cloudy. So, I biked again today and probably will tomorrow as well. We've still got an 80% chance of rain on Friday, though.
I'm kind of excited about it. I'm not sure it really matters what season it is, I love the rain. I don't hate the sun on principal, exactly -- I enjoy a pleasant sunny day to be sure. I just don't like the sunny days to go on endlessly, as they seem wont to do every summer in Seattle anymore. So, I like to enjoy the cloudy days while I can. And in the springtime, even when it's raining it's never unbearably cold either.
I'm already scraping the bottom of the barrel yammering on about the weather here. I might as well just admit this is all I've got today and get back to work!
