in brief
Short update today! I went to Steamworks last night, had a great time, you probably aren't interested in details. Hell, for some it could be over-sharing that I mention it at all. Whatever! It's still something that happened and I'm not going to pretend it didn't. The upside is I got everything I needed out of it in less than two hours, which is rare, as I often wind up there as many as four hours and still leave disappointed. Not this week!
Shobhit worked until 8:15, and I was back home well before that. I just did super exciting things like reconcile my budget and transaction log against my credit card statement. Then, when Shobhit got home, I updated his work schedule on my Google Calendar. Are you falling over with excitement at the day to day occurrences of my life?
I really need to finish this John Waters book I'm reading. It's been overdue for a few days already and I can't renew it because a bunch of other people have holds on it. And now I'm in the same boat with The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. I reserved it just because of that great documentary about her from last month, and I probably could have renewed the book right now -- but then she had the nerve to die this week. Now the damned book has like 69 holds on it, and I already only have a week left on that time to have it checked out! I'll never get it read in the next week, so I guess I'll just return it and check it out again later, and read another book at the head of the line of a hold I have paused.
What else? I guess I could tell you about my weekend plans, which consist of . . . not a whole hell of a lot, actually. I was considering going downtown to watch the outdoor screening of Jurassic Park at Westlake Park, but, that probably won't happen. I'll see a movie tomorrow. Maybe hang out with Danielle on Sunday, hopefully get at least some plans finalized for our Las Vegas trip at the end of September.
The next two weekends are pretty lively with planned activity, though. An extra Happy Hour with Laney at her friend Julie's house on Friday the 16th; movie with Karen on the 17th with probable solo drive in Shobhit's car to Olympia afterward, hopefully to tour the Olympia Police Station where Gina works; this year's annual "McQuilkin Family and Friends" gathering at Mason Lake on Sunday the 18th, this year for the first time probably without Eric there. I may see about staying the night at Jennifer's on the 17th; I haven't brought it up to her yet.
And then, the weekend after that? A third (and second extra) Happy Hour with Laney on Friday the 23rd. Then -- trip to Denver! Yay! And, I'll get to see Sara W again. I'm really looking forward to that. I still need to email her things I'd like to do while we're there. I already have ideas of places to go with nice city views that I have found online.
