Sat, 6:48: Holy shit you guys, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was the best gay pride event I’ve ever attended, even though it was just as long as Seattle’s excessive four-hour Pride Parade. The key difference? EFFORT. Nearly every contingent was full of people dancing, usually choreographed. Not necessarily very well, but at least they were doing more than just walking! Maybe the difference is that this takes place at night, which makes it *much* more like a huge party. We had a blast. The NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire + Rescue contingents garnered huge cheers from the crowds, as you might imagine. Also, the hotness in the parade was off the charts.
