  • Mon, 8:24: Reader responses to this have spanned a wide range from "That's amazing!" to "That's not nearly enough!" From my perspective, it's always good to keep in mind that these things are never as easy or as simple as people outside the decision making process assume. Furthermore, we already offer an unusually great employee benefits package; our *starting* wages are above minimum wage; and this action is in pretty stark contrast to the millions across the country who have no work (or pay) at all. So, I'm falling pretty hard on the "That's amazing" side—and this doesn't even apply to me, as I am neither an hourly nor a store staff worker. I'm working from home and don't need it; store staff do.

I have my own criticisms of how my employer has handled some of this, but come on—nobody's perfect, we're all doing the best we can in extraordinary circumstances. I'm not interested in making comparisons to what other far larger (and with much deeper reserves of resources) companies are doing. This is an incredible thing and it makes me even more proud to work for PCC. RT @PCC In recognition our store staff’s tireless contribution to serving our members and shoppers, all hourly PCC store staff will receive a temporary pay increase of $2 per hour from March 15 through April 11. • Mon, 13:59: Scheduled for 5:30. I have a feeling this might be when our state's official "shelter in place" directive might finally come down. https://t.co/ZpssJIbFyl
  • Tue, 01:53: CoronaQuarantine, Day 11. Governor issues mandatory statewide “stay at home order.” Time to rush out to the liquor store only to find out they qualify as “essential business!”
  • Tue, 02:44: Baked macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. I added chopped bell pepper, tomato, veggie sausage and a bunch of mushrooms. Elbow pasta and panko bread crumbs were both free samples from work. And guess what? You can’t have any! HAHAHAHAHA!! #mine #itsfuckingmine
