We got our COVID-19 test results back. "(COVID-19) NOT detected," for both of us! And incredibly, the results have actually been "resulted" since just after 3 p.m. yesterday, after getting tested Tuesday morning. It barely took more than a day, when they had told us it would be 72 hours! I didn't even bother to check until this morning, but there it was.

Now, it must be reiterated that Shobhit and I went grocery shopping yesterday evening, and Shobhit has had in-store work shifts starting Tuesday right after the test that go each day through tomorrow. So that's four days' worth of him being out in the world before we head to Idaho, but knowing for sure we were negative four days prior is still a hell of a lot better narrowing the window of risk than just knowing we haven't had symptoms for the past 14 days. Or I guess 10 days is the new standard—although frankly I feel almost dirty citing CDC data anymore, since they caved to the pressure of President Fuckwit Administration idiocy and actually reversed their recommendations that schools not reopen in the fall.

Whatever the case, there is definitely a better sense of security knowing that we had no detected COVID as of Tuesday. I'd much rather leave Saturday having had a test result that day, and I really agree with the sentiment that we won't even begin returning to a life that is any way normal again until we have that kind of testing capability. But, for now this is the best we've got, and we will still adhere to recommended social distancing practices, wear masks when indoors with other people, etc etc.

We got about 12 yellow nectarines at PCC yesterday, when we returned so I could get the deodorant I missed getting on Monday and also get a bag of cereal. There was a weird confluence of events with nectarine coupons: a delay in the rollout of paper coupons for a free pound of nectarines had their effective date coincide with a digital Member Coupon for exactly the same thing just by coincidence; lately we also keep getting double copies of the paper coupons, so: I had two paper coupons and one digital coupon each for a free pound of organic yellow nectarines, each with a purchase of some other product. They also had to be separate transactions, and the cashier accidentally charged us for an extra pound on one of them, so it became a mini fiasco but in the end we got it settled.

We came home and finally used up one of the take-and-bake loafs of bread we've had in the refrigerator for well over a month, waiting to get to those after finally getting through the last of the bunch of bread products we bought at the bakery in Bellingham on July 3, and the BOGO breads we had gotten at PCC with other coupons, also doubled up in the mail. Anyway we sliced them and baked them with like three different kinds of cheese on them as toppings, as well as salsa and leftover taco filling. It was a lot of food so I saved half of my half of the loaf for lunch today.

And we ate while watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which took up pretty much the entirety of the rest of the evening. I do love Imelda Staunton's performance in that movie, as Dolores Umbridge.

Surprisingly, the desk I bought on Amazon actually arrived yesterday. But I'm still waiting to set it up after work today as planned, before Shobhit gets home from work at around 6:20. Then I'll be set to have my first work-from-home day at my new desk tomorrow. Hopefully assembly won't be too time-consuming or difficult; beyond those concerns I'm pretty excited about it. Shobhit keeps bitching about it being a supposed waste, which is truly crazy-making. He thinks I should just take the $200 stipend from PCC and add it to savings, but I feel, quite rightly, that it should be used for the precise reason they are offering it, which is to improve our work stations at home. Besides, this is the only way I can realistically set up my much larger dual monitor system at home, which will improve my work experience immeasurably. I'm guessing I'll manage that part of it sometime within the next week or two.
