Sun, 8:31: BATMAN RETURNS is still my favorite movie and I don't care who knows it! But you know what? That was back when we weren't oversaturated with subpar, diminishing-returns sequels and reboots. Even Christopher Nolan offered two great Batman movies a decade and a half ago (and then a just-okay one). Jesus Christ, how many of these reboots do we need? THREE REBOOTS seems like a little much, and this trailer literally did nothing for me. https://t.co/r09kMhKpRr
Sun, 18:36: I actually think the biggest problem in all of this is white people spending too much time self-insulating in echo chambers instead of *listening* to the reported personal experiences of people of color, and particularly Black people.
Side note: it was wonderful of Ernest to engage with this lady and he is rightly lauded for it, but he would also have been well within his rights to say “You know what, lady? Read a book.” Of course running a local business successfully kind of precludes such a response. This story is illuminating in any case, and the real point in my sharing it is this: when Black people speak about their lived experience in America, the only constructive place to start is by listening.
And they have actually been talking about it for decades—centuries—so the information is not hard to find, whether it’s from your neighbors or your local library. https://t.co/IQh9wHMNAp
