As always in a post following up a review of weekend travels, I have far less to report on today. Mostly because I spent the rest of yesterday evening after work—well, after I rode my bike to the office and back to exchange receiver paperwork which killed about 75 minutes—writing up the email photo digest. That actually had probably slightly more, and some different, detail than yesterday's blog post; I have already copied and pasted the captions from that email onto the 18 photos used for it, in the photo album on Flickr. So some more of the photos, though nowhere near close to all, have now been captioned. I'll probably spend the next few days finishing up the captioning.

I expect I'll spend some time this evening talking to Dad on the phone, though, as today is his 65th birthday. And we'll have plenty to talk about, given the timing of Shobhit and me having gone to Idaho just this past weekend.

And this date has double significance for me, as it's also the 18th anniversary of my first day working at PCC. I don't know that I had any idea at the time that I would last this long, though I probably hoped for it from the start. I would still love to wind up just retiring from here. Work is very strange in terms of setup in 2020 for sure; god knows it never would have occurred to any of us that we'd ever all be forced to spend the better part of a year working from home. But, I still feel confident we will all eventually return.

I did finally sign up for my time slot for checking out my dual monitors to bring home from the office. The best day for this is Wednesday next week since that's one of Shobhit's rare days off from either job. He asked me to sign up for a morning slot so he can them come back and just go to the beach. We'll see if he can find parking over there; last time he tried to go to the beach he just came right back home because he was unable to. Although he might have better luck if he goes earlier. I signed up for the 9 a.m. slot so we should be back with my monitors that day by 10:00 in the morning.

In other news, Shobhit bought focaccia bread at Costco during our weekend travels, and twice in a row now I've used it for sandwiches for lunch. Shobhit actually made most of mine yesterday before he left for work, leaving only the spreading of condiments on the toasted bread halves for me to do. It was so tasty I made myself another one today while he was at his eye doctor appointment. He's been kind of obsessed with getting focaccia bread whenever possible for weeks now, and suddenly I'm starting to get it. It's so soft and good! Even after slightly toasting it.

Guru won't stop whining today. I don't know what the fuck his problem is, except that he's kind of acting attention starved. He was in my lap here at my work desk just a few minutes ago when Shobhit walked back in the door after his appointment, and Guru bounded off my lap to go greet him. Daddy's home! Shanti stayed here on the floor by my chair, though. I think maybe I am Shanti's forever sweetheart. Although both cats do often spend time with me even when Shobhit happens to be home. I win!

Shobhit works at Total Wine & More this evening, a half shift from 3:30 to 7:30. Hopefully we'll have time to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 tonight. We actually listened to several chapters of the book on tape while driving home from Idaho on Monday. People love Jim Dale, but honestly I would be really interested in hearing whoever read the British versions of the books. I find a lot of Jim Dale's enunciation irritating: "Harreee!" or "Sorreee!" For a while I thought he was just having Hermione talk this way, but I noticed him quoting other characters the same way too. Stop it, stop it, stop it! This is why I still prefer reading books to listening to recordings of them being read aloud.

Anyway I've got lots of work to do, best get back to it.
