library suspension
I haven't bothered to go see a movie at all this week—so far, anyway. The last one I went to was with Ivan, when we went to see the fucking weird Icelandic movie Lamb on Saturday evening last weekend. The way things are looking right now, I won't go to another one until tomorrow (the next Saturday) afternoon, to see The Last Duel, which Ivan is bizarrely excited about. Even though it's two and a half hours long!
The following week should be different. There's a documentary I want to see and likely will either Sunday or early next week, and Tracy and I have made plans to see Dune on Thursday. I actually would watch and review another new(ish?) release on streaming or VOD, there just isn't anything in that arena that's more exciting than other options Shobhit and I have right now. Like, season six of Schitt's Creek—which Shobhit and I blew through far faster than we did any of the other seasons. We started it, watched the first six episodes, on Wednesday evening. Last night we watched the rest of the season, accounting for eight episodes.
It will be fun to find another new series to start watching, but, I really am going to miss that one. It really hooked into me in a way I didn't expect, and I still expected to enjoy it. I had no idea how sweet and moving it would become, as it's about a rich family who are self-absorbed and cold with each other, but, after they lose their fortunes and are forced to live in a motel room together, they actually learn to love and care for each other like a much more ideal family. No one ever characterized it that way to me before I finally got into it; they would just say how great it was. But, I do like specifics.
I suppose this will make it easier to get through the rest of Reservation Dogs now, as that is another excellent show.
I got notice that my Seattle Public Library account has been "temporarily suspended." The book I have right now has been renewed three times, I can't renew it again, and it's been six weeks since my last renewal. Oops. I have only about 35 pages left to read, though, so I think I will just take it to the library after work tonight, and finish the last few pages there. Maybe I can then get another book in time to bring something to read on the travels to and from Las Vegas.
I need to get my shit together. I don't particularly think I should be judged for how very long it typically takes me to get through a book, but this is ridiculous. On the upside, now that I am no longer commuting by bicycle, I will actually have a bit more time on a near daily basis for actual reading, either while on the bus or while walking, at least when it's actually dry and daylight out. That latter part will change for a while from November to January.
