Tue, 8:21: SUCCESSION is arguably the best series on television right now, even though it's about deeply horrible, insanely out of touch rich white people. But, it refuses to dehumanize them, which I think is the key to its success.
It also doesn't absolve them in any way, mind you. But, we find ourselves empathizing with them in spite of our revulsion to them, and I actually think there is value there, a lesson to be learned in our actual lives, when it comes to public figures—or anyone, really—we find it easy to despise.
