Technically our office "Ugly Holiday Sweater Brunch" and Secret Santa has already happened—it was this morning—but I want to wait to write about it, until I have the photos uploaded to Flickr and can also share those here in this blog. I don't have a lot of time to get shit done today anyway, outside of that and my one-on-one with Eric this afternoon.
In the meantime, I can briefly tell you about my last 24 hours. Two of the photos in today's post were taken just last night, while I was downtown, waiting to get picked up by Shobhit on our way down to do some shopping at Costco.
I had taken my hybrid walking/transit commute home from work, catching the Monorail and then Light Rail. If both had been running on time, I would have gotten home by 5:05, but the Light Rail was seven minutes delayed, which annoyed me a little. It was probably closer to 5:10 by the time I got home—the very time I would have needed to catch the #11 back downtown, and then transfer to a Rapid Ride D bus, to make it up to Interbay in time to meet Shobhit at Total Wine when he got off at 6:00. Fifty minutes just to go four miles is straight up ridiculous if you ask me.
And, I had to go up to the condo to feed the cats. They still have plenty of food in their dishes. What fucking ever. I gave them a little more, than about ten minutes later went down to catch the next #11 . . . which, again, was delayed. I walked down to Broadway and wound up hopping on a #49 bus downtown.

And then, I had maybe fifteen minutes downtown before Shobhit was headed toward me in the car from his work. I went into Westlake Park to see if I could finally get one of the "animations" to work in this year's version of Augmented Reality for the "Lights and Delights" display they have there in lieu of the traditional Holiday Carousel. I did get one to work; that's the screenshot you see at the bottom of this post. There was supposed to be another one but all I could ever get onscreen was the cat looking out the window at Seattle. It fits nicely with the three photos I'm using in today's DLU, though, given that the first shot is of the Space Needle and the second is of the Seattle Great Wheel, both of which are in the view out the window the cat is looking through.
I walked through an emptied Pike Place Market and then down to the waterfront, as that would be the road Shobhit would be driving down. Walking past the Seattle Great Wheel, it was lit up in holiday candy colors and looked quite lovely. I had to get a picture. The photo doesn't do justice to how great it looked in person, but, oh well. The photo is still nice. I also got
a great photo of what used to be Washington Mutual Tower, lit in Christmas red and green colors, but I'll use that one in as a later Daily Lunch Update photo.
I meandered as far down as Miners Landing, and Shobhit pulled right up. I got in the car and we went down to Costco.

After shopping, we went home, made ourselves dinner (I had a bagel sandwich with eggnog I broke down and bought at Costco, with slightly too much whiskey added), and then we watched
Doctor Strange on Disney+. The movie came out five years ago and I was never much interested; Gabriel has been telling me it's actually pretty good so I've had it on my list for a while. And, Shobhit and I are going to see
Spider-Man: No Way Home tonight, and knowing Doctor Strange factors notably in the plot, I figured I would finally get that movie watched.
A lot of it was very reminiscent of Christopher Nolan's movie
Inception, at least in terms of its visual effects.
Inception was a way better movie, of course, but I still enjoyed this one. I don't think it was essential viewing for
Spider-Man but that's okay. I did feel like the story was rather rushed. Had I reviewed it at the time I'm sure I would have given it a solid B.
