Sun, 18:32: I just finished season 2 of Schitt's Creek and now I finally feel like I truly get it when they say you just have to stick with it if you're not quite feeling it at first.
I actually tried this show a few years ago and I was so not feeling it, I only watched a few episodes and then abandoned it. But, another friend raved about it last year, so I gave it another go. Maybe you just have to be in the right headspace or something, because this time it didn't take long for it to speak to me, especially with its oddball humor.
But! There is still a clear difference between the start of season 1 and the end of season 2. That is, at its very start, Schitt's Creek is undeniably entertaining but still about little more than the novelty of an out-of-touch wealthy family losing all of their riches and finding themselves forced to integrate with a bunch of townies.
The end of season 2, however, brought with it a genuine sweetness between all the characters, a layered turn of character development thus far unseen and which very much makes me look forward to watching the rest of the series.
Many of you already know the answer to this of course, but maybe the secret point of this series is that learning to live without obscene wealth actually makes you more human?

🎵 Maybe we’ll drown, maybe we’ll burn
Maybe we’ll choke, maybe we’ll suffocate
Maybe we’ll cough up a last lesson learned
So many fun ways to annihilate 🎵
