The highlight of my evening last night was just watching my library DVD copy of the 1998 political film Primary Colors. Shobhit went into it with a bit of skepticism, thinking it would be outdated—but, he later acknowledged when I brought it up, that movie holds up surprisingly well even after all this time. He said he just wished the lead weren't John Travolta, Mr. Scientology. I kind of agree, but oh well. Also, he's practically doing a Bill Clinton impression in that movie. Ironically, that helped endear Shobhit to the movie, or more specifically, Emma Thompson as the wife of Travolta's character, who is depicted as strong and intelligent and largely running things behind the scenes. To Shobhit, that reflected well on his beloved Hillary Clinton, so then he seemed to kind of like the movie.

Once that was over, I went into the bedroom to watch this week's episode of Y: The Last Man on Hulu, a show that consistently fails to live up to the promise of its premise (something I knew from reviews going in) but which I can't help but find compelling anyway. The "man" who is the central character, the only person with a Y chromosome on the planet left alive on the planet, is still annoyingly vapid, and I would like the show a lot better if the character weren't such a selfish and clueless dipshit. I guess you can't have everything.

We had our annual fire drill at work today. It was quite a bit different from other years because, as I have now mentioned many times, far fewer people are working at the office every day. Scott is back from his several-day trip to Philadelphia for Expo West though, and Tracy had a day trip to Portland yesterday to visit a vendor, but she's back today too—after being out all last week due to her trip to Hawaii. So in my little corner of the office, today Noah is the only one missing from our little four-person cluster.

We all walk to an open courtyard space between other buildings about a block to the north on Elliott Avenue when these fire drills happen. The crowd that gathered was a bit larger than I might have expected—there are extra people here today for a training—but still far, far smaller than it would have been in the Before Times.

There are times when it still feels a bit lonely here at the office. But, I still find it far preferable to working from home. The situation with working in either place is nowhere near ideal, but working at the office remains a lot closer to ideal than continuing to work from home, which I finally grew tired of in the spring. I'm over it. Being back here is so much better.
