Mon, 09:10: Yikes! The *forecast* yesterday had been 79°, which was bad enough; that's 19° above normal for October 16.
And, it turns out that it feeling way hotter even than that was not my imagination, as I had briefly wondered: we actually hit 88° yesterday! Jesus Christ.
On October 16! This broke many records:
*Record high for the date (previous: 72° in 2018)
*Latest day in the year to be at or above 80° (previous: 80° on October 14, 1961)
*Latest day in the year to be at or above 85° (previous: 89° on October 1, 1987)
*2nd hottest October day in Seattle recorded history (that 10/1/1987 record remains the hottest—but that's barely in October)
This heat was just the latest prolonging our ongoing regional wildfires. Holy shit, do we need rain. We've had less than 10% normal rainfall since July 4.
