I went to a movie last night with Tracy, and we saw
Bros. The movie was both fine, and I had a lot to say about it: my review was one that exceeded 1000 words. I wrote it this morning at work. Don't tell anyone.
Tracy picked me up at home, and she also drove me home afterward. We talked for more than an hour in her car. We often talk for a long time when she brings me home, but this was longer than usual—thanks largely to her trip to Las Vegas last month and then my trip to Idaho and Leavenworth shortly after, we found ourselves with a lot more to talk about than usual because we hadn't hung out since we went to a movie and then had a picnic dinner at Golden Gardens Park. When was that? Holy shit, it was Sunday, August 28! We didn't hang out
at all in the month of September, it would seem. So, we had a ton to catch each other up on.
It also meant I didn't even get back into the condo last night until fully 10:45, even though the movie itself had been at 6:45. There had been countless trailers beforehand, so the movie let out at about 9:15; it would have been about 9:30 once we reached my building. Which means we talked for another good 75 minutes or so after that. Which was a lot. But, really nice catching up nonetheless. We talked about hanging out soon in a non-moviegoing capacity, so we have more time to talk. "We like to talk," I noted.
So, of course, there was no time for writing my review last night. I wasn't even asleep until 11:06, at which point I completely zonked out.

Well, there's just not a whole lot more for me to report on today. I guess, just because I've got nothing else to do, I could mention that I have quite the backlog of Halloween themed "DLU photos" (for these Daily Lunch Updates) to use, which is why yesterday I used all photos from Halloween 2021. Technically today's photos are all from this year, but they are still Halloween themed; they were taken during last week's trip to Leavenworth.
But, most of my backlog is photos from both last year and the year before, a lot of it fun shots from walks Alexia and I have taken through the north (more wealthy) end of Capitol Hill. Shobhit's mom will be around by the time Halloween rolls around this year, so the neighborhood tour will likely be a little different this year. I think Shobhit expects to show his mom all this stuff too, as it will be wildly different from anything she's ever witnessed in India, but she's also far too old to be taking that kind of lengthy walk. Shobhit expects to drive her around the neighborhood. What remains to be seen is whether I will just ride with them too, or maybe I take the walk separately again with Alexia, or both—or, I suppose it's a possibility the four of us could drive the neighborhood together. I'll get a lot better pictures if I can walk though.
Oh! Here's a great standby when you've otherwise run out of things to talk about: the weather! People at work today keep talking about today's supposedly dreary weather, as though we've finally taken a turn toward the fall and winter. Someone literally just passed my desk saying "Welcome to fall/winter!" Except it was 54° this morning when I came to work, barely still warm enough for me to bike to work without a jacket; it's several hours later and still only 56° as I write this, but the forecast is still 71° and partly sunny by the time I'm riding home. And we still have forecast highs in the early- to mid-seventies every day through Monday next week, when normal highs right now are 65°! This is still "summer weather" to a large degree, just not right this very moment when the unusual fog has yet to burn off.
I'd be happy for it to stay like this for weeks to come. I am so over the summer heat. It was legitimately
hot inside the condo last night, and it's fucking October! That's fucked up.
Okay I guess I'm done now.
