Is it just a rule that the older you get, the more you blame your audiences for the diminishing quality of your own work? Maybe I should mark my calendar for my own 75th birthday in 2051 as the right of passage where I can spew the same total bullshit.

(Side note: it's not like no one makes genuinely funny movies today whose gags actually land. It's hard to succeed at it but it always has been, and yet a great recent example is 2019's BOOKSMART which is fucking hilarious. Or hell, even more recently, this year's EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. David Zucker just needs to accept that he happens to have outlived the shelf life of his content.)
