I whiled away my evening last night watching the new movie
The Adam Project on Netflix, and then
reviewing it. I actually had a pretty good time watching it, even though it was pretty stupid. B-minus movie.
It gave me something new to watch and review, anyway. It's the fourth movie in a row that I have watched streaming at home for review, actually. Tomorrow I plan to watch a fifth; I don't plan to see another one in a theater until this coming Sunday, hopefully with Ivan. (I brought it up to him last night for the third time. He keeps forgetting we talked about it. He finally watched the trailer, at least.) That'll be on March 20; the last time I saw a movie in the theater was
Cyrano with Karen, on Sunday March 6. A two-week stretch! Hence, the five streaming movies I'm reviewing in between.
Speaking of
Cyrano, a few days ago Ivan asked if I had seen it. Except I didn't know what he was talking about at first, as he mispronounced it, as "sir-AH-no." I was like, what the hell is that? Once I figured it out and corrected him, I think he was slightly embarrassed. Has he never heard of
Cyrano de Bergerac? Maybe not.

After posting the review, I then watched the next episode in the Showtime docuseries
We Need to Talk About Cosby. It's a five-part miniseries and this was the second episode, which I've heard discussed on several podcasts and have long wanted to watch—I just didn't have a chance because it's on fucking Showtime and I don't have a Showtime subscription. Well, I have one now, for one month, having signed up for a trial membership so I could review one of the aforementioned five streaming movies I've been reviewing. Now having access to this docuseries is just an added bonus.
I've watched two of the five episodes so far. The series is uncomfortable, as expected, and also excellent. Very well done, and a high recommendation. I really wish it had been on another streamer with more subscribers.
I find myself wondering how Showtime ranks. I guess it's part of the Paramount+ package, which I did not subscribe to—I only did the trial directly with Showtime. (This may be another option for a future trial subscription, after I run out of email addresses used directly with Showtime.) Paramount+ has 32.8 million subscribers,
according to Wikipedia. Among major streamers available on the U.S., Paramount+ would thus be ranked 7th, after Netflix (221.8 million suscribers), Amazon Prime Video (175 million), Disney+ (129.8 million), HBO Max (73.8 million), YouTube Premium (50 million) and Hulu (45.3 million).
I subscribe to all of those except for YouTube Premium, which for me would be wildly redundant and unnecessary. I
pay for four of those, because I exchanged my login credentials for Disney+ to Laney for her Hulu login, which I stopped paying for after I knew I would have to pick up Disney+. We can only pay for so many streamers, and Shobhit keeps asking me if I really need all the ones I do have. Honestly, if I got rid of any at this point, it would be the most expensive one by far, which is now Netflix—their strategy of quantity over quantity makes it far less a value for the price than it was ten years ago. Still, as long as they are offering us
The Crown or
Bridgerton, I'll keep the subscription, my oldest now (having signed up in 2004), alive.
