Here it is, my last day before leaving for Louisville. I'm getting a little anxious about how crazy-early I have to get up tomorrow morning, in order to catch a 7:18 am flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. I need to catch the earliest Light Rail train to leave Capitol Hill Station, at 4:51. This really means I have to wake up by 3 a.m. at the latest. Gack! To top it off, my fucking Sleep Cycle alarm has stopped ever sounding, even though I set it up correctly. My body has adjusted to the time change so I have been consistently waking up at reasonable times on work days without it, but this is two hours earlier than that. I'm going to have to set the phone's own alarm, I think. Maybe even my old-school, insanely annoying, clock radio alarm that I've had since high school. I might even do both. I can't take any chances here.

What a day tomorrow is going to be. When my plane lands in Charlotte, it will be merely 12:23 Pacific Time, so that's what it will feel like to me—but, local time, it will be 3:23. Then I have to wait until 6:09 pm local time to take a plane from Charlotte to Louisville, which will be another 96 minutes of flying. Barbara plans to meet me at my hotel and then we can find a place to have a late dinner. I should look up nearby places just so I have an idea of where to go to eat beforehand.

It's kind of a surprise I haven't done that already. I've been obsessed with making rough itineraries for every day I'm in the Louisville area. I've got separate "to do" lists in my iPhone reminders app for each city: Louisville; Indianapolis; Cincinnati. In the cases of both Indianapolis and Cincinnati, I've found places or landmarks I want to see, and I have them mapped in order so we can go to the northernmost spot first, then work our way south toward downtown, and thus be a bit closer to Louisville for the return trip in the evening. A lot of them are just vantage points I found online that apparently have good city views. The first stop in Indianapolis will actually be a cemetery, which I assume Barbara will find interesting for its own sake.

I even looked up places to eat with city views. I could not find any such place in Indianapolis that was not too fancy, so Indianapolis is out for that. But, I found a tavern with reasonable food prices that appears to have a great skyline view of Cincinnati, which we can have either lunch or dinner at. And I even made reservations for lunch at a place in Louisville with city views. That rooftop restaurant is only on the third floor of a building, but, you know, whatever works.

I've got everything pretty well mapped out for this trip, in any case. I should finally get my current library book finished while traveling. I expect to sleep a good amount on the flight to Charlotte tomorrow morning, though.

As for last night, I actually started a little bit on the packing. Shobhit always wants to start packing several days early, which tends to annoy me, but my time is going to be tight tonight: I need to do laundry, and I hope to get into bed very early, maybe sometime between 8 and 9.

I made macaroni and cheese, from the box I usually take to work and thus create two lunches out of it. This time I just packed half for lunch at work today. I usually make it with chopped bell pepper and chopped fresh tomato, but I have no tomatoes at home. I decided to use up some of the pretty good amount of Costco mushrooms I still have left, some of which are relatively likely to go bad. I chopped and sauteed ten of them, and add those with bell pepper to the macaroni. Also what was left of the Beecher's cheese curd, also from Costco, that was now maybe two weeks past its sell-by date. It turned out pretty well.

I skipped watching a movie again. I finally decided to get into The Book of Boba Fett on Disney+, even though everyone says it's far from vital viewing. Well, the thing is, I consider The Mandalorian essential viewing, and apparently both he and Baby Yoda show up in the middle of this show. I can't just ignore that! I only watched one episode, though. I'll watch another tonight probably.

I got on Skype with Shobhit in India for a bit, but the connection is terrible so the call dropped after a little while. I guess his brother was over so I could hear him and their mom talking in the background. I killed a little time after that with some preliminary packing. Weather is going to be tricky; there's little to no rain showing in forecasts currently but temperatures are predicted to be cold—colder than Seattle, even though Louisville was at 70° just yesterday! (Combined with rain, though, so not great.) While I'm there, highs will be in the 50s and lows in the 30s! I'm definitely going to have to layer, so I'm thinking I will bring my lighter jacket as well as my red hoodie, instead of my pea coat that is kind of falling apart and is in desperate need of replacement.
