Life has been relatively uneventful over the past 24 hours, unless you want to count how annoying work has been "eventful." I was ready to go home and pick up where I left off with
Winning Time on HBO Max by early afternoon. But, I had to wait until work was done and I got home on my bike, by way of the Central Library where I picked up a DVD.
Then I watched two more episodes of
Winning Time before I realized the assistant coach was played by Jason Segel. I knew he looked familiar, but had to look up the cast on iMDB. Then I was like, holy shit! This show has an incredible number of actors who really disappear into their roles, including John C. Reilly as the lead (I don't think I have ever seen him disappear into a role so completely), Sally Field as his mother, and Tracy Letts as the coach, in addition to Jason Segel. But Segel in particular is a weird one, because they make him look so old and drab, bordering on shabby. It's an unusual look, and it's as though they didn't use any makeup at all for shooting. I just looked him up and he's now 42, so I guess there's that. But even I still look younger than he does on this show, and I'm 46.
I keep thinking of his scene in
Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he drops his towel and the full-frontal revelation of his dick somehow qualifies as a punch line. That guy. This is that guy. In that movie though, he was 28. Anyway, we don't see any Assistant Coach dick in
Winning Time. We get a few pretty great looking man butts in a couple locker room scenes, though.

I went to bed early. I just watched two episodes of the show, and I caught up on my draft of the "Birth Week Bonuses" travelogue email that I won't finish until Laney's and my walk on South Ship Canal Trail two weekends from now. I actually tried to read in bed for a bit, and I got through maybe two pages before it was impossible to keep my eyes open. I was sound asleep by the time Shobhit got home from his late work shift.
I'll be leaving work about an hour early this afternoon, to be home in time for a 4:30 virtual appointment with Dr. Eckert, hoping to get the document needed to be "cleared for travel" within 90 days of recovering from covid, so that we can get to Toronto and back without having a test requirement. I may test anyway before leaving just as an added precaution, but this will make the return, in particular, less stressful, without having to worry about getting a test in Canada late enough to be within a 24-hour window but early enough to be sure we get the results on time. Although, who knows, with Canada's health care system maybe it's not as stressful. Who knows. I still want the "clear for travel" documentation.
