In a stunning turn of events, I actually feel like I'm ahead at work today. The work I needed to do on September ads, and which absolutely had to be done by today due to the three days I'm taking off next week, is already finished, having gotten through it more quickly than I thought. Granted, "ahead" really just means I can finally get to some other routine tasks that have had to be neglected, but assuming I can get those done today, I actually be caught up. Of course, once I return next week, I'll have more catching up to do again, but at least I feel well positioned right now to be able to do that. The bigger point is, for the first time this week, my work load today actually feels comfortable, and even in the best of circumstances that is rare for the last day before some vacation time.

Shobhit actually gets a Social Review point for last night, which surely makes him happy. We attended a wine class at Total Wine & More, the first one we've done since before the pandemic—last time we attended one was in October 2019.

No one at that store wears masks anymore, including Shobhit; I think Shobhit is largely influenced by the fact that no one else is doing it. He's told me the only time it happens is when a staff member is back from being sick and they're require to for the next five days. I still generally wear masks when entering stores, even Total Wine, which is cavernous and usually has very few people in it. I wore mine into the store last night, and kept it on until we were in the classroom and actually getting into the provided snacks that served as my dinner.

The upside is that the class attendance was the smallest I have ever seen; Jane, the woman conducting the class, commented on how it's taking time for the word to get around that they have resumed. Shobhit and I were two out of only six attendees, then there was Jane and a super skinny young man who helped with the wine pours. Thus, there were eight people in the room. Apparently there were supposed to be ten, but two people who had signed up for the class canceled. Since Shobhit is an employee himself and gets to attend with one guest at no cost, that meant only half the people in the room had actually paid to be there.

Three of them also wore masks into the store and into the classroom, but of course once we were all eating and tasting wine, all the masks came off. I take comfort, I guess, in the idea that such low numbers still meant my risk was relatively low. I have so many tests at home that I do plan to do a home test before leaving for the airport ungodly-early tomorrow morning. So, I am nervous about that, as I stupidly always am. It's unlikely that I have covid, especially having already had it in April, but you never know. It's best to be sure.

Anyway the class was about French wines. We must have tasted eight of them at least. I got a nice buzz going.
