got it going on

Less to share today than over the past couple of days, which is just as well. Last night was the one night this week I did not have plans: tonight I see an IMAX 40th anniversary showing of E.T. at Thornton Place in Northgate with Tracy, who has stunningly never seen the movie; tomorrow we have a "Braeburn Summer Social" at our condo complex; Thursday is my monthly "party watch" of a movie online with Kwanteria—at least I'll be able to do that one from home—Friday is a second Happy Hour with Laney; Saturday is dinner with Lynn and Zephyr who will happen to be in Seattle for a tattoo convention. I even have plans on Sunday, although at least that one is afternoon rather than evening: watching Knives Out with Laney, and again at least that one can be done at home.

Any other movies I want to see will need to be sprinkled over next week, which hopefully won't be as jam packed as this one. I do have a virtual lunch with Karen Friday next week, and then I'll be taking the car Saturday August 27 to go myself to Gina and Beth's housewarming, as Shobhit didn't want to request the day off. He's already seen their house more than once, and will be taking several days off for the Family Vacation in late September anyway.

As for last night itself, being the one evening I have free this week, we took the opportunity to go shopping. We went to Costco, and wound up spending over a hundred bucks. Knowing that I had already shifted $50 to my "travel expenses" budget line item which now has my budget balance at around -$5, Shobhit volunteered to pay; even if I hadn't shifted that $50, I'd be in the hole if I'd paid for these particular groceries.

But! Not as deeply as I thought: I just went over my budget to check against my bank statement, and forgot to adjust my water bill line item with the actual amount rather than an estimate based on the previous month; it was actually notably less than I thought. That takes me out of the hole, with a budget balance of $35 or so.

I have also already successfully discontinued my monthly $20 donations to both Planned Parenthood and the ACLU (not that I wanted to, and I'm still regarding this as temporary, but I need to rebuild that nest as quickly as I can), which means I've already added another $20 to the budget line item for travel expenses. I was just able to add another $30, so my travel expenses line item is now back up to $700, with a budget balance at roughly positive $5 rather than negative. Shobhit should be pleased to learn I'm doing it this way rather than keeping any "extra" funds as my budget balance. I have no intention of spending any more money until, at the soonest, I get paid again on Friday.

All this is also bearing in mind, I already "borrowed" $1,500 from my savings account to cover the flight bookings for Australia, of which we still have one left to do. That is likely to come to more than $500, so it's not time yet to try refilling that borrowed money from savings, which will likely have to wait until I cash out PTO at the end of the year.

Anyway. We came home, put groceries away, and made a pizza dinner that we added shahi paneer to as a topping, which was pretty tasty. We ate while watching the first episode of the new Prime Video series A League of Their Own, which was merely decent but I think has promise and I still want to watch more, but Shobhit wanted to get back to his news programs after that. So I went to the bedroom and watched the three available episodes of Reservation Dogs on Hulu, getting my caught up on that now. It remains excellent.
