  • Wed, 08:37: Last night Shobhit and I went to see the original JAWS (1975), one of my ten favorite movies of all time, which I have seen easily, no exaggeration, probably around thirty times. (I have documentation of having seen it five times in the past decade alone.)

That movie holds up. That said, I can't particularly say I recommend seeing it retrofitted for 3D, the current theatrical release format. It's just always a thrill to get to see it in a theater, and I jump at the chance to see it in a new way, given the insane number of times I've watched it. Unfortunately though, the 3D element made it a lot easier to notice the artifice of the mechanical shark.

Regardless, it's a stupendously constructed, edited, paced, acted, and of course scored film. Probably the best experience I had with it was when I got to see it in its original format at Cinerama in 2015.
