I did some movie planning for the next few weeks yesterday, and suddenly discovered a Best Actor nominee film I had not yet seen was playing:
Living, Starring Bill Nighy, in his first-ever nominated performance. It's playing at the Egytpian, which is all of six blocks from home!
Well, he was also nominated for the SAG Awards, which meant Shobhit has screener access. He can also print out ticket passes for movies in theaters, but we don't have a working printer at home. Shobhit figured out how to access a screener online, and we watched it at home. I tried, in vain, to mirror the screener from both my iPad and my iPhone to the TV via the Apple TV box, but the screener must have some kind of protection on it, because the mirroring worked fine for the screen itself, but when trying to play the movie, the screen on the TV just went black. Dammit!
So, we just gathered around Shobhit's laptop on the coffee table in the living room, and watched it there. I quite enjoyed it, too, giving it a B+ in
my review I wrote and posted after the movie was finished.
Shobhit watched a second SAG Awards nominee screener while I was writing:
The Woman King, which has two SAG Award nominations (Viola Davis for Female Actor in a Leading Role, and Stunt Ensemble, a category the Oscars should really also add), but, criminally, received no Academy Award nominations whatsoever.
The Woman King is a great movie and I saw it twice in the theater; I didn't need to see it a third time just yet, so it was a perfect one for Shobhit to move on to while I wrote.
I really would have liked to have seen
Living at the theater, at which I also could have gotten a free popcorn with my SIFF member punch card. But! Seeing it at home saved me $9, and every dollar counts, right? Also, I can save the popcorn for after Australia when I am currently trying to lose weight in the lead-up to that trip, and every calorie counts, right?

Of course, Shobhit also asked me to make hot chocolate, and I did do that. I had a very light dinner, at least, using the very limited amount of paneer stir fry left from what Shobhit had made on Tuesday, along with one naan. I made it with smaller mugs than the larger ones I usually use, too.
I was still down half a pound this morning, at least, so I'm happy about that. I'm finally back under 165 lbs again, albeit barely.

I have a packed weekend ahead of me. Not one, but
two social engagements after work today! First, I plan to leave work at 4:00 so I can get to the new Convention Center building, previously called "Washington State Convention Center Additon" and now called "Seattle Convention Center Summit" (I had to update all my
tags on Flickr), by 4:30. There, I will meet up with Shobhit and Alexia for its public open house today—
Except. Shit, shit, shit! The web page now says "Event at capacity," and I didn't realize you were supposed to register for it. Fuck! I may not get inside the building now. I guess I'll still go and just see what we can see. I also just emailed the organizer to see if there is any other option.
Anyway. After that, I have dinner with Scott and Tracy planned, at 7:00. Two former PCC coworkers, now moved on to . . . if not greener, then other pastures. This was actually Tracy's idea, she liked the idea of getting together with Scott again but didn't want to propose a dinner just the two of them, so I volunteered to coordinate a dinner with all of us. It will be nice to see Scott again anyway; I last saw him at my PCC 20th Anniversary party last August.
Tomorrow, I had blocked out time to go and finally get my iPhone upgrade done. Just as I did three years ago before the 2020 trip to Australia, the newer iPhones have far better camera features and zoom capacity and I want to upgrade before we make our return trip.
Sunday we're going to hang out with Danielle again. At first we thought it would be brunch in Seattle since she had another client infusion appointment, but the client canceled, so she suggested we finally come down to her place to spend time with her in her new(ish) hot tub.
