Wed, 21:41: Photo 1: "Cultural Candidate Forum" last night at Town Hall Seattle, featuring top-two candidates each for Seattle City Council districts 2, 3 (ours), and 5. Focusing on cultivating and preserving arts and culture in our city, very informative and engaging talk—it's too bad more people don't attend these things.
No one else brought this up at the event but I will: I was kind of struck by the fact that not only were all six candidates present women (guaranteeing that, after the November election, our City Council will at minimum remain majority-women; it could conversely wind up 78% women), but among this particular group, only two of them were White. Having a City Council that's more diverse than the City itself could be a very good thing.
Photo 2: What a wonderful world it would be if just all public restrooms could be like this. Whether you think it's true or not, it would just make literally everyone happier and more comfortable. (You can't see it from this angle but those toilet stalls are all self-contained rooms with doors, the hallway and sinks being the only communal space in there.)
