ninety plus forty minutes I won't get back

Yesterday I took myself to a 5:30 pm showing of Renfield, with Nicholas Hoult as the title character and Nicolas Cage as Dracula, at Pacific Place.

I found it rather disappointing. C-minus. Pretty rare from me. It may very well be the worst movie I see in a theater all year. I rather hope it is, because anything worse would be a D-plus.

I walked there from work, and walked home from there after, reading my library book in both cases. I lucked out that the rain had stopped, although everything was still wet and some branches and awnings still dripped a bit, getting small droplets onto the pages occasionally. Oops.

My first order of business after getting home was to write the review. I had restarted the computer in the morning before leaving for work, intending to open Chrome to allow it time needed to load everything and thus avoid the issue I then did indeed have to deal with: it took forty fucking minutes for all tabs I needed to open and load. That is truly ridiculous.

The thing is, once that's done, I don't tend to have to wait that long when things inevitably freeze up. And I think this was the first time it ever took that long. And it's definitely not the internet connection, as all other devices work fine. It's my fucking computer. I need to figure out what's slowing it down, and maybe get on a chat with Apple Support again. That always just takes so much time, and I am rarely at home with several hours to spare. But I need to do something here.

Once I could finally start writing my review—after throwing up my hands and actually starting the first couple of drafts in a Gmail draft on my iPad, which is not great with nails as long as mine—I managed to bang out the pretty standard-length review in about half an hour.

Then, I watched the last two episodes of Beef on Netflix, so I'd have it done by the time my subscription ends today. It was incredible.

I didn't get to bed until about 10:52. Than, thanks to both my fucking cat and because of Shobhit tossing and turning in bed, I was wide awake at 5:11 this morning. Onward and upward, I guess.
