Shobhit had a campaign event to attend last night from 6 to 7:30, which seemed to be invite-only for candidates themselves, at the Port of Seattle. He had somehow been put under the impression that dinner would be provided, and he wanted to bring me, but any registration materials asked for what position you're running for. He did send in an email to ask if he could bring his husband but never heard back, and I certainly didn't want to crash a party I wasn't invited to.
So, shortly after I rode my bike home from work, and fed Cassie next door since Alexia was out for a few days this week, Shobhit left for that event, and I just made myself a very tasty sandwich for dinner. That worked out just fine.
Shobhit seemed to find the meeting very useful and informative. He called me on FaceTime from the dash mount in the car on his way home, telling me the food turned out to be just a few snacks rather than dinner. He bought himself some Indian food on the way home.

In the meantime, I had watched the first episode of this new show on Disney+ called
American Born Chinese. I had thought the episodes would be released weekly, but all eight episodes appear to have been released all at once. I liked the first episode a lot, even with its unbearably awkward high school scenese.
I sure had to work hard to find the damned thing at Disney+ though. It's nowhere near the top of the feed when you go to the "series" link, and I had to type out nearly the entire title before the show itself came up in search results. It's like Disney+ isn't promoting it at all, which seems very weird to me. It features both Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, both of whom won Oscars this year for
Everything Everywhere All at Once. I guess
people are watching it though, so that's good.
After Shobhit was home and settled with his dinner, we watched episode 2 of
Silo on Apple TV. Now it's about Rebecca Ferguson's character.
Oh. Alexia just had a work trip to Portland for a few days, and she brought back a couple of treats for Shobhit and me:
homemade ding dong cakes from
Elephants Delicatessen, a place I never heard of but is now on my list for my next visit to Portland! I mean, damn. Shobhit and I both remarked on how good they were. It was easily the best ding dong I've ever had.
