Not a lot to update you on today, which is fine, because I have a lot of work to do anyway.
I spent the evening at home last night. I was the one who made dinner, using small-ish pizza crusts to make pizzas for Shobhit and myself, and a sample vegan white pizza sauce from work. I should have maybe poured more of it on, but that's okay. I still put plenty of toppings on them and I found mine tasty, at least. I cut it into four slices and ate only two, saving the other half for dinner tonight. This proved to be a good strategy: after consuming too much over the weekend and getting back up a couple of pounds, I was down a pound again this morning. I am eager to get back below 160, and as of today I have about three pounds to go.
Shobhit had a Braeburn Condos board meeting over Zoom. I had biked to the Central Library to pick up the current book for Book Club, called
Packing for Mars by Mary Roach, and I started reading that, even though I'm already in the middle of a novel I borrowed from Alexia (
The House In the Cerulean Sea, which I am really enjoying). But, I really want to have actually read the book by our next Book Club meeting, which is on October 2. So, I did what I used to do in college, and budgeted pages: if I read at least 15 pages a day, I'll have it done by then. So my rule as of now is, I read 15 pages a day out of
Packing for Mars, and then if I still want to read anything, I'll turn to
The House In the Cerulean Sea.
I actually hate reading multiple books concurrently, but this is a rare case of having good reason to do so. Luckily I've got plenty of time in both cases, 15 pages a day for one being quite manageable, and in the case of the other, it's a rare book I'm reading that's
not from the library so I don't have any due dates to worry about. Also, in the case of last night at least, I quite easily got to page 15 as the page count starts right from the accolate quote pages in the front of the book.

After Shobhit finished with his meeting, we watched some more of season one of
The Righteous Gemstones on HBO Max: episodes 4-6. I'm really enjoying it, although I'm baffled by Gideon's decision to keep hanging out with that dipshit stuntman who wants to rob the Gemstone Ministries.
Episode 6 ended with quite the cliffhanger, which made it very difficult not to keep watching. But, I wanted to read some more of my book!
...
. . . And: I just finished my lunch break, during which I made it to page 30 in
Packing for Mars. I'm on track so far! I have a rescheduled Zoom lunch with Karen tomorrow though so tomorrow may be tricky. On the upside, I don't have any movies scheduled until at least this weekend.
