Just another evening of catching up on TV, really . . . after we made our dinner, Shobhit and I watched the last episode of season one of The Righteous Gemstones on HBO Max.

Side note on that show: I enjoyed the season, and really like the multi-dimensionality of most of the characters, but also found certain characterizations too weirdly contrived. This was particularly the case with Keith, the former "Satanist" and his supposed Satanist friends. The stuff the show shows them doing weirdly seems to lean into crazy ideas Christians have of Satan worshippers, most of which really doesn't happen at all. And that final scene where Kelvin goes to rescue Keith from some weird ritual in which Keith is in a vinyl suit in a pool and just his cock hanging out of a slit in the suit . . . no part of that rang true. And although the show clearly exists to exaggerate everything about the world televangelists live in, it seemed to be trying to strike a weird balance between absurdism and seriousness with the Satan worshipper stuff that didn't quite land.

But! I did look up The Righteous Gemstones on Metacritic, and discovered season one has a MetaScore of 67—which really tracks—but seasons 2 and 3 have scores of 82 and 80, respectively. I can only take that to mean the show must actually get a whole lot better, which is good.

Anyway, after that we watched this week's episode of Reservation Dogs on Hulu, which I very much enjoyed. And then I went back to the bedroom to watch this week's episode of Ahsoka on Disney+, which I thought was . . . pretty cool. I do think that, valid arguments either way aside, that show is best appreciated by people who already have an existing relationship with the Ahsoka character from the animated series that featured her. Ahsoka kind of stands on its own, but as someone who never watched all that other stuff, this show falls far short of the quality of, for instance, Andor. Honestly I'm finding Ahsoka barely worth watching, even if those "Purrgil" whales are pretty cool.

It didn't even mean that much to me to get to see Hayden Christiansen as Anakin Skywalker in this week's episode. I did find myself looking him up online and getting nice reminders of how gorgeous he was when he was younger, though.

Before the TV watching, we actually went to QFC to do some shopping. Their app offers too many digital coupons that are too good of deals to pass up. This included $2 off blocks of Tillamook cheese, far better than that Kroger cheese crap we got last time—and perfectly timed, as it gave us cheese to use on the pizzas we made. (Except we got home and only used the last of the artisan cheese we last got at PCC.) Shobhit got an extra to save and take with us to Palm Springs for Thanksgiving. He's got an idea to make lasagna instead of Indian food this time. I can't decide if I'm disappointed by that or not. I do love lasagna, we've just never not had Indian food for a Thanksgiving out at Faith's, I don't think. There's a first time for everything!

Hell, we'll even be staying out there for five nights for the first time.

The pizzas we made were done with more of the vegan white sauce this time, because it seemed I didn't use enough on the last ones; it took up the rest of the jar. Between that and the gorgonzola and bleu cheese we topped them with, the cheese and sauce mixture melted all over the cooking sheet this time around. It made us both a little skeptical of how well it would turn out, but then it turned out to be quite delicious.
