Fri, 12:02: I got a sneak peek last week at this stellar video of Laney advocating for Pride Place, Seattle's queer-affirming, affordable housing community for seniors—the first such building in the Pacific Northwest—and it's finally public so I can share it!
The video was produced, with such high production value that Laney says they just hid her nervousness and made her sound so articulate with skilled editing (don't let her fool you though, Laney is well spoken all the time!), by Community Roots Housing, the Seattle-based low income housing program that developed the project.
In the video, Laney also discusses GenPride, a local organization that advocates for and serves the needs of queer seniors. They operate a queer senior community center on the ground floor of Pride Place.
Just in case I haven't been explicit enough about this yet: to me, Pride Place is as big a point of civic pride in Seattle as other new attractions like the Overlook Walk—arguably even more so—and I *love* that Laney is such an integral part of it. She was volunteering for them well before construction was done and is now such a vital part of the community that she's the subject of interviews, videos, and now she even writes pieces for them!
