I took myself to see
Goodrich last night. It was decent. Solid B.
There's a small rash of movies
not being shown at AMC theaters in Seattle proper lately, which is very annoying, especially when they're coming up showing at AMCs in the suburbs. What gives? The movie I want to see tomorrow night is also at Regal and not AMC, so I'll have to spend an extra $17.50 to see it. I only have the monthly subscription at AMC. (That pays for itself with just two movies in a give month, so there's no wasting money there. It's just forcing me to spend extra on movies that are only at Regal that I want to see.)
At least I had my last Regal voucher from Costco, purchased ages and ages ago, to use last night. I very smartly stopped at the Regal Cinema on my way home to get my ticket earlier than right at the 6:15 showtime. It took much longer than it should have, too, because the kiosk would not read the bar code. I tried over and over, then walked to one of the ticket takers, who told me the screen they usually use for situations like this was down. Wonderful. Finally they sent me up to a manager at a customer service desk on the second floor.
That guy told me the issue was that it was reading as "Already redeemed." What? Now I was getting some self doubt: maybe I redeemed it once already, and then put it back in my wallet instead of throwing it away. I honestly couldn't remember. I didn't bring that up, though. The guy just made it work and I got my ticket, so I din't have to pay for the ticket last night.
And now I am definitely for sure all out of my Regal Cinemas vouchers.

I walked home, wrote the review. I was also home briefly before the movie, and I left a lot later than I normally would have, because I wanted to fill out my ballot while Shobhit was working on his, and I wanted to get that done. Kamala Harris for the win!
I told Laney recently that I honestly have a feeling she will win. That doesn't make me any less terrified of Former President Fuckwit winning, though. I saw a headline yesterday saying a revent poll had her winning "in a landslide," which would be delicious but I don't particularly expect it. This country is full of way too many dipshits who long ago drank the MAGA Kool-Aid. Also, I don't want to be given potentially dangerous false hopes.
Anyway. Between trying to get dinner heated up and eaten, and filling out my ballot, I left home at about 5:55, and the showtime was at 6:15. I had hoped to get on the 5:54 bus headed past my building, and I just barely missed it. I learned quickly enough that it was better that way: there was so much traffic backed up on Pine between the freeway and Broadway that not only did I catch up to that bus
on foot, but I walked at least three blocks ahead of it, before I finally cut over to Pike and just walked the rest of the way. And then I got to the theater right at 6:15 anyway. I was still glad I had already gone through the time-consuming regmarole earlier than doing it right then. On my way home from work, after stopping at Regal, I walked over to the Central Library to return two overdue DVDs, and then I caught the RapidRide G line back home. I got home at about 5:25 and that was a big part of the time crunch.
It all worked out in the end.

In other news, the past couple of days have brought new holidy event planning. Alexia and I will see a matinee of the Dina Martina Christmas Show on December 7, right after we attend the Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition at Pike Place Market. Shobhit had commented how the Overlook Walk will be a great space for carolers to spread out on, which makes me wonder if perhaps they will indeed do that. And, Gabby and Amy and I have been discussing doing a holiday outing just the three of us, and in the absence of much brainstorming among us all in the meantime, I suggested "Miracle on 2nd," the "Holiday Pop-up" converted from Rob Roy on 2nd and Battery that Katy from UNFI took several of us in Merchandising to the past two years. She left UNFI since then, though, and although I had said we should continue going, I kind of doubted that will happen. Well, Gabby and Amy both sounded very interested in this, so now I'll just go with different people!
