My Threads

Monday morning last week; monday morning this week.

Anyone with resentment toward central office staff working in some sort of ivory tower should know that this building has become janky as fuck. Even those of us who have unapologetically loved this space are looking forward to next year when we can get the hell out of it.

I had a moment last week when one of the elevators, ostensibly right after the three that had been malfunctioning (again) had been repaired, stopped and jerked forcefully up and down one floor below my destination, in a way that made my heart stop and just about made me shit my pants. There have indeed been multiple occasions over the past year when staff had to take the stairs due to persistent elevator issues, and we are on the fifth floor.

One of the two faucets in the restroom commonly doesn't work. Often, we have to use one sink for the water and the other for the one soap dispenser that works. Three weeks ago, everyone was forced to share a single-stall bathroom in the gym in the building across the street, because the plumbing went out for a solid hour in our *entire building.*

I don't know if I should mention the property company by name. Let's just call them Schmartin Schmelig.
