My Threads

  • Mon, 15:34: I have a soft spot for the Fremont PCC, for three reasons:

#1. The original store was the first one I ever stepped foot in, well before I had any idea I'd eventually be working for the company. I *think* it was the late nineties (?), and I used to go in there for a brand of veggie jerky I loved called Vegi-Deli, which as far as I know hasn't even existed in ages.

#2. When the store moved to its current location in 2003, even though it was not a new neighborhood and it moved all of one block, it was still the first store opening after I started in 2002. I didn't do a whole lot directly related to that opening, but I did print out a ton of shelf tags. The "new" Fremont store has now been open 21 years.

#3. Until the Greenlake Village store opened in 2014 (and that one celebrated 10 years this week!), Fremont was my home store as a shopper. Before Shobhit and I got together in 2004 and I gained access to his car, I used to take the bus from my apartment in Belltown to Fremont to do my grocery shopping.

  • Mon, 20:16: Shobhit and I finally got around to watching the four episodes of season 3 of Bridgerton that came out last month. I absolutely loved it, for multiple reasons, not least of which is that not only does this season focus on Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), but not once does any other character say anything about her weight—and all her suitors are handsome men.

This is apparently a decidedly different choice from the book, and in my opinion a great one. To be clear, though, I find every storyline engaging well beyond this particular point, and am thoroughly enjoying the whole season so far.
