We finalized our Toronto / Niagara Falls trip budget last night, so this is the biggest headline from the past 24 hours: we spent a combined $3,240 on this trip.

That included air fare and travel insurance ($1,258), along with combined $62 in bag fees, as well as the cost of the four nights of the hotel (minus $255.63, still totaling $963.75). If you remove those totals, the amount we spent during the trip, combined between the two of us, we spent about $956. That still includes the car rental cost for our day trip to Niagara Falls, without which it goes down to about $871.

I paid for most of it. There were just a few things in that combined total that I did not pay for: two trips to Tim Hortons for coffee for Shobhit; some underwear Shobhit bought at a shop on Church street; some $200 worth of liquor he bought at the duty free store at the airport. The balance I thus had to transfer to Shobhti via Zelle last night was $798.

Honestly we spent way more on this trip than I realized. Accounting for every expense, that averages to $648 per day on a five-day trip. For comparison, our trip to Australia last year spanned seventeed days and we spent a total of $8,341 on that trip. That worked out to $491 per day. Granted, to be fair, the longer your trip lasts, the less per day it's going to cost as there is typically only two flights involved regardless. Although for Australia, we had multiple other air fares purchased in addition to just getting to and from Australia: the flight from Brisbane to Sydney; and from Sydney to Adelaide and back. If we had just gone to one city, that per-day aveage would have been even lower, by probably a lot.

I spent some time uploading some last minute photos and captioning a few of them last night. The evening, while it was the last I'll spend at home this week with no visitors and with Shobhit home, was spent mostly with Shobhit on Zoom meetings: first for the Theater Puget Sound board, and then for the 43rd District Democrats. I think it stretched fully from 6:00 until well after 9:00. It was during the last hour of that when I was finally able to sit down and match my budget sheet for Toronto with Shobhit's and figure out how much I needed to Zelle him. Otherwise, we had no time for any TV or anything like that. We watched the season two premiere of House of the Dragon on Sunday evening already anyway, which was great.

Sometime last year, largely at my suggestion, Gabby and Amy and I established a pattern of going for a team lunch at least once a quarter. A couple of weeks ago we made plans for our spring lunch, and we just did that today; we just got back, shortly after noon.

There is a new Moto Pizza literally like two blocks from the office—as the crow flies, it's really just one block, across the street and the other side of the block. But, Elliott Avenue is way lower than Western, so we have to go down to the third floor, walk across the skybridge to the cylindrical 3101 Western building (the one to the right in this shot, then out to the right from that building's parking garage, and to the left around the building to the small complex next door. Moto Pizza is down a ramp so it's a little hidden.

It might be my new favorite pizza in Seattle. The pizza I had, "the root," was a very good portion for the price ($12), though these personal pizzas are only available for lunch. The dinner version is $19 though, so that's actually less per person if you split it for two. It's on really soft, thick bread slightly crispy on the edges. I think Shobhit would love it. I need to come back here with him sometime.

Gabby sprang for the group, as she always does. I think she's done it three times now. She's going to spoil us and make us start expecting it! At least we're having Gabby and her husband Nick over for dinner on Friday. Shobhit is already starting the prep for that.
