* Regular attendee at Action Movie Night ** Lea's 40th birthday party *** Work Social(s) Total days in the spring with social interaction: 69 (75%, a +3.6 percentage point change from spring)
. . . Well! I noted in the spring Spring Social Review that it's not often I break 60 in the list of social rankings, and I had barely gotten to 60 then; this quarter it's 63. This is mostly due to a few different parties I attended, nost notably a couple of work gatherings, and Lea's birthday party on Friday the 13th. Without those particular gatherings, the list would be whittled down to, at most, 49. Funny how just one or two parties can blow this list up—as long as I can clock actual interaction with people, anyway. But as we all know, I am a social butterfly! The most dramatic shift this quarter is the ranking of Barbara's daughter, Beth, splashing into the #3 spot, the highest just about anyone can rank as long as both Shobhit (#1, as usual) and Laney (#2, as usual) are around. Beth was originally going to stay in our guest room for 9 days, that ended up getting stretched to 12, and I have her a Social Review point for all but one of those days. Alexia typically ranks #3, proving she's still a formidable presence on my social calendar—so far, anyway—even after moving from the condo next door to an apartment in Issaquah in May, but got bumped to #4 by Beth. Tracy's position at #5 is pretty standard, although I would say I hung out with her a bit more than usual of late this quarter. Gabby, thanks in large part to us having her and her husband Nick over for dinner in June, got a slot quite unusual for her, at #6. Danielle and Gabriel, though, I slotted both at #7 and #8 even though a few people have more than the 3 points they got each, because in both cases I spent a lot more time with them on each given day we hung out. Rounding out the top 10, then, are Tony even though he has a whopping 6 points as the host of Action Movie Night—but with rather limited direct interaction each night—and then my sister, Gina, ranked higher than some others for the same reason as Danielle and Gabriel: more cumulative time spent with her. I spent a solid seven and a half hours with her (and Beth, and Gina's friend Jennifer, and Jennifer's daughter Grace) at the Washington State Fair yesterday alone, and that was on top of a lunch in Westport last month. In any case, the only people ranked lower than Gina with more points are regular attendees of Action Movie night who I do talk to a bit most of those nights, but not a whole lot. The one person usually ranked high who got knocked down a ton of positions was Karen. We're supposed to have our virtual lunches twice a month, but due to cancellations for various reasons, this summer we only did that twice. That knocked her down to #16, when she's more often in the top 5, or at the very least the top 10. Anyway. Let's get to the who did what with whom where and when!
