Beth made us
a quiche for dinner last night, the first homemade quiche I've ever had made for me at our place by a guest. Beth is a fantastic cook, something she keeps being modest about, but the things she has made for us have been truly delicious.
At Shobhit's request, I made chai shortly after I rode home from work on my bike. I made that, and then watched this week's episode of
Sunny on Apple TV+—something Beth had watched the first three episodes of with me shortly after she first arrived last week. She was particularly interested in seeing that, as the show had piqued her interest. We kept having to catch Shobhit up as he watched along.
I wanted to check out another new Apple TV series released yesterday after that,
Time Bandits, so we watched the first, 46-minute episode of that. I only know about it because of the Lisa Kudrow interview that revently happened on the
WTF with Marc Maron podcast. She's definitely my favorite part of it, but I'd say my reaction so far is mixed. The main character boy's relationship with his parents is weirdly implausible and forced, but the premise of a group of time-hopping bandits who take the boy with them after discovering his bedroom is a portal—once that got going, and they went to different time periods, the show got more fun. A lot of the scenes had a fairly delightful, almost
Monty Python-esque goofiness to it. Some of the silliness lands and some of it doesn't.
We all decided to set up plates and eat our dinner at the dining table. Beth also made a kind of caprese salad, small tomatoes and cheese chunks drizzled with oil. I ate too much. But, I should have a leftover slice of the quiche waiting for me to have for dinner tonight and I do look forward to that. Hopefully I won't be quite as stuffed after dinner tonight as I was last night.

After dinner, or just as we were finishing dinner, Shobhit suggested we all go for a walk. He hasn't been getting his steps in for the past few days. Beth declined at first, and then changed her mind. She was much relieved when we told her the mile-walk north to Volunteer Park via 15th Avenue was actually level, so there were no hills to climb in that direction.
It was a lovely walk, perfect temperature for barely heating up from walking and then not getting overheated. We reached the park right at about 9:30. Beth suggested I
take this photo of the sun setting through the trees to the west. The photo does not at all do the sight in person justice, but it still made for a nice photo.
We walked around the park a little bit, Beth got to see the new amphitheater with its flood lights lit, and then we walked back home.
I set about getting ready for bed right after getting home, and was in bed shortly after. Beth must have been mystified that I went to bed without saying goodnight or something, because she actually knocked on the bedroom door to ask, "Are you okay?" Um, yeah.I just went to bed!
So that's that, one more day accounted for.
