the uneventfuls

I just had the most low-key weekend I have had in ages. I mean, if you exclude Friday, which I took off of work to go to the Washington State Fair with Gina, Beth, Gina's friend Jennifer, and Jennifer's daughter Grace. But, I already posted all about that on Saturday, the same day I posted the Summer Social Review. Between those two posts, that was what took up the majority of my time Saturday morning, clear until about 2:00 in the afternoon.

The rest of Saturday and Sunday were much the same. There is only one notable movie release this week that I want to see, and Laney and I are going to that tomorrow. I had hoped maybe I could make some plans with Gabriel, to watch an old documentary he's never seen and has expressed interest in (Paris Is Burning), but he proved unavailable this weekend—instead, because he and Lea will be coming to Seattle for a party Saturday evening anyway, we made plans to watch in the Braeburn Condos theater on Saturday next weekend.

Shobhit had a play rehearsal between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, then a work shift 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and another 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. yesterday, leaving me to my own devices most of both days. I actually would have taken myself to another movie yesterday, had there been anything that looked worth going to. I did seriously consider going to see a documentary about Christopher Reeve on Saturday evening, but the showtimes weren't the most ideal, and the movie had unusually limited showtimes, limited to the weekend only, and only on Saturday were there even multiple showtimes.

So, I never actually left the condo the entire day on Saturday—a rare thing indeed. I could have skipped the shower and spent the whole day hanging around in the nude. I didn't, though. I watched one or two things on streamers over the weekend, including the first two episodes of a new Hulu show called How to Die Alone yesterday, which I am enjoying so far.

I left the condo twice yesterday. I decided to walk to the Central District PCC for two reasons: just to get out into the nice weather for a little bit, and to redeem my Member Offer for a free 5.3oz Ellenos yogurt. I bought a coffee concentrate that was both on sale and had a $1 off NCG coupon for Shobhit, qualifying for the purchase necessary. I grabbed a plastic compostable spoon and ate the yogurt while walking back home.

Later in the evening, after Shobhit got home and we watched the final two episodes of season four of The Boys on Prime Video, we walked up to Trader Joes. We bought far less than intended because all of their freezer cases were emptied due to technical difficulties keeping them running. They must have lost a lot of sales yesterday, or however many days their entire freezer aisle was empty of product.

We came back, watched this week's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and after that I basically called it a day.

I spent a lot of my time otherwise over the weekend doing some new organizing projects on Flickr. I created two new photo albums dedicated to photos from over the years that best reflect the layouts of PCC Central Offices: the 16 years I spent at the Roosevelt location; and the following 9 years I'll have spent at the Elliott Ave location by the time we move late next year. And after that, I'll start a third album for that collection, dedicated to the Downtown office location. Whether we move again another decade down the road is a road we'll have to glance toward probably several years from now.

I'm genuinely excited about this move, even though I'd prefer to stay here. But the move will also have many benefits that come with it, including to me personally, so I'm not complaining, and changes like this are exciting. 2025 is going to be a big year for PCC, opening a new version of the Downtown store, moving the Central Office right next to it (with a significantly larger footprint than the store itself), and ramping up the opening of the Madison Valley store after nearly a decade of delays and setbacks—that's not likely to open until early 2026, but much of late 2025 will include work related to it.
