I had a quiet evening at home alone last night, and it was lovely.
I keep thinking I'm going to sit and read my library book . . . and then doing something else. I finally had the last of the pasta with pesto cream sauce that I made for Action Movie Night last Wednesday, and I made myself a hot apple cide with mulling spices and a shot of butterscotch schnapps added, which was delicious. I sat down with those to consume while watching another couple of episodes of the Hulu series
How to Die Alone.
And then? I just burned through seven episodes of it (roughly half an hour each), until I had the season finished. The show is a little rough around the edges, lacks a bit of polish, but I was still very charmed by it and really enjoyed it. I had to text Laney that I really think she would enjoy it too.

I had walked home from work, with these "new" slip-on shoes I bought ages ago and have only worn once before. They show size 10 and a half, which is what I wear, but they are really too tight around the toes. I'm still trying to break them in, and they didn't give me
too much trouble yesterday—until I spent nearly an hour walking in them. Once I was a few blocks from home, my right big toe was killing me.
I'm wearing them again today. But tonight I'm seeing a movie with Laney so I'll only be walking as far as Pacific Place, taking a break for the movie, then walking the rest of the way. So I think it won't be as bad today.
My other shoes, which I like better, are starting to wear through the soles. These new shoes look better but aren't as susbtantial in material: the soles are thicker and nicer to walk on, but the fabric that goes over the top of my feet is thinner. I really need to buy another pair here pretty soon.
Wow, this is such important stuff! I'm grasping at straws for things to write about today, so I guess this will have to do.
