Shobhit met me at work again yesterday at 4:30, and walked home with me. There's another Social Review point for him! What a thrill.

Incidentally, I was supposed to see Paddington in Peru with Laney after work today. She feels like she's coming down with a mild cold, though, and has decided to take it easy and rest in an effort to stave off any sickness on her trip to Florida next week, the flight for which is on Sunday. I totally get it. Shobhit was interested enough to let me buy him a ticket so he could come with me instead, even though it cost me another $15 and put me about that much over budget—only because I have already budgeted $210 for the Afternoon Tea he and I will have with Alexia next month at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, so it's not a big deal really.

What it does mean is that the Social Review point Laney would gave gotten today, she will no longer get, and I won't see her again until after she gets back from her trip. Our next scheduled event is our Weekday Happy Hour on Monday, February 24. Instead, Shobhit will get yet another point closer to catching up with her. After tonight, Shobhit will have 16 points for the Winter Social Review, and Laney will have 20. Shobhit and I are likely to hang out with Danielle and her friend Jeanna tomorrow; we'll also be visiting Dad and Sherri on Saturday, after which time Shobhit will have 18 points. We also have Pramala Jayapal's Town Hall ob Tuesday; Action Movie Night on Wednesday; and then the SAG Awards viewing at Central Cinema on Sunday, February 23. By then Shobhit will have 21 points and will already be ahead of Laney, although they'll be tied again the next day if Shobhit does not join us.

Anyway, Shobhit and I watched two episodes of season three of the UK version of Being Human. We took a break between the two so Shobhit could take a call with a guy in India that Shobhit is sort of consulting with as a favor to his brother. It would have been fairly early in the morning for that guy.

In other news, I already mentioned yesterday how beautiful the setting moon behind the Olympic Mountains was yesterday. But I thought I would mention the three shots in this post are the ones I took while walking to work yesterday: the first from the end of Pier 62; the second from the Olympic Sculpture Park; the third from the northwest corner of the office (which is on the 5th floor). I was disappointed to see how blurry the second one turned out; it could have been my favorite if I had managed to get a clear shot. Oh well. The first shot is a spectacular photo, I think. I really love how it turned out, and I love that the Olympics actually have snow on them. Too much of the year anymore, there's no snow on them at all.

In definitively bad news, the Senate confirmed RFK Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services. A conspiracy theorist and vaccine denier. This was one cabinet nomination I held out hope the Senate might actually reject, but nope: by a slim margin, predictably, nearly all the Senate Republicans voted for him, because apparently they'll blindly vote to confirm any wacko President Fuckwit nominates. Incredibly, Mitch McConnell—largely the architect of where we are today, particularly when it comes to the Supreme Court—actually voted against this guy. But others have actually gone through on a slimmer margin, with JD Vance casting a tie breaking vote.

This is both expected and horrid. Just like everything about this administration, which is actively destroying the very fabric of America. But anyway I have a fun weekend coming up!
