nobody wants this

Not a lot to report on today. I had a tentative movie on my calendar yesterday, but it turned out only to be playing at SIFF Film Center at Seattle Center, and my only showtime option was 7:00. I didn't feel like walking home and then busing all the way back shortly after for this particular movie, which I'd have to pay for—granted at a $5 discount as a SIFF member, but at least AMC movies are all part of the monthly subscription price.

I think I watched something I enjoyed a lot more than I would have enjoyed the movie anyway—although I am now, very tentatively, considering just going to the 7pm showing of the same movie on Thursday. But, we'll see about that.

Shobhit saw half of the first episode of a SAG Awards-nominated Netflix show called Nobody Wants This. He texted me about it, said he was into it, and asked if I wanted him to wait so we could watch together. I said I did. We binged the first seven, out of ten, half-hour episodes last night. I'm certain it was way better than had we continued with season four of the UK version of Being Human, which was honeslty not that great to begin with, but this season they've even replaced two of the three lead actors.

Nobody Wants This is very different, but still far better. It's a romantic comedy show about a rabbi played by Adam Brody, who falls in love with a "shiksa" (non-Jewish woman) played by Kristen Bell. It's not the greatest pitch, honestly, but I was impressed by the smart writing from the jump. I'm really, really enjoing it. Even though I'm not crazy about the plot point of Bell's character and her sister (Justine Lupe) being ambitious podcasts hosts. But, that's my only criticism. The rest of it is great.

Shobhit made us pizza for dinner. We each split half of it. I decided to forego the veggie pepperoni, and let Shobhit decide how much grated cheese to put on it—which he really limited, but that's fine. It was still a lot of bread in the crust, so I was stunned when I weighed in this morning nearly 2 lbs lighter than I did yesterday. I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with the scale, because that's wild. The weight reading this morning was lower than it's been since February 2, and I would bet money it will be up at least slightly tomorrow, no matter what I eat today.

You see? This is what passes for worthy content in today's Daily Lunch Update. I should just post this and move on.
