this is all you get today
It's increasingly common in my life to wake up several times in a given night, often at the slightest noise -- as such, for instance, maybe half the time I wake up when Ivan gets home from his swing shift at work. Not so last night, though, which clearly was a sort of reaction to my seriously terrible night of sleep the night before. I was super tired all day yesterday, and I got into bed at 9:18 -- and then proceeded to sleep soundly, completely uninterrupted, for the next seven hours and 48 minutes.
If only every night could be like that!
I'm feeling much better, far more alert and awake and refreshed, today. It's doubly a good thing, too, because I am guaranteed not to get as much sleep tonight: I'm seeing a movie at 7:00 that should let out around 8:30, but then I need to go home and write the review -- and then tomorrow I'll have to get up super early. I'm going on a work field trip for the day to Lucky Hook Farms, which supplies us goat milk, in Moses Lake. We leave from Issaquah at 7 a.m. I need to confirm from Noah that I can ride with him out to Issaquah, but whether it's that (likely) or the bus, I'm going to have to get up tomorrow morning somewhere between 4:00 and 4:30, probably. If I get to bed at 10:00 at the earliest, I'm likely to get six hours of sleep at the most. I'd be better off if it can be sound sleep, at least.
I can also sleep on the van I'll be taking to Moses Lake from Issaquah, of course. That'll help.
It should be noted that naturally this means there will be no Daily Lunch Update (DLU) tomorrow, because I'll be out of town for the day. It's just as well. I'm starting to scrounge in search of photos to use. This trip to a goat farm should yield a few new ones, I presume.
Given that I went to bed so early last night and did not go out to do anything, there's really not much more to catch you up on from the past twenty-four hours. I had a veggie hot dog for dinner, and ate while watching the fantastic new Netflix comedy special by Patton Oswalt, Annihilation.
I had stopped at the library on my walk home from work (I could have ridden my bike, not realizing the rain was only going to happen during the work day -- but whatever) and picked up the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which I decided I wanted after watching that movie with Shobhit and Ivan a few weeks ago. So I went to rip that CD to my computer after watching the comedy special, and had to spend way too much time failing at figuring out how to get it to work. iTunes kept saying it couldn't find the disc, even though it loaded the track listing. I tried copying and pasting the tracks to my hard drive and adding to my iTunes library from there, and that wouldn't work either. Eventually I gave up and finally updated all my Tori Amos playlists with best-tracks from the album she released in September, Native Invader, which is very good. Not any close to her early work, of course, but she hasn't managed that in fifteen years.
After that I caught up on two episodes of The Mindy Project. I almost watched the latest episode of This Is Us, but decided instead to remove it from my Hulu "watch list." I thought to myself, Am I going to miss this show if I don't watch it? Nope. So, like I did with Last Man on Earth, I chucked it from my viewing rotation. Anyway, after those two episodes of The Mindy Project, I was ready for bed.
So that's that.
