tasty stuff, in brief
Cheers episode count for Thursday evening: just two! Shobhit had his Rachel Maddow he wanted to watch, and this was after getting home from work a bit later than usual as his shift yesterday ended at 5:15, and then we went on a walk to the Starbucks on Broadway and Pike with the intention of taking advantage of a 2-for-1 deal on his account . . . which we could not do in the end because they up and changed their hours and close at 7:00 now on all weeknights, only a week later on weekends. We were there at about 7:30. Shobhit had only checked their hours on Yelp, and those had not been updated.
So, in the end, the only thing we got out walking for was to get an overpriced bottle of Resolve at Bartell Drugs because I had just run out of it cleaning the second of two piles of cat barf for the day. I had even set myself a reminder to get it at Target -- for much cheaper -- on my walk home, and even after looking right at the reminder at about 4:20, I still spaced it while I was actually walking.
We had taken shot bottles of rum and Bailey's to add to the chai or hot chocolate we were going to buy, but wound up just taking them back home with us. I made chai at home though and added the booze to those. I've been drinking a lot less often lately so that may be why I actually managed a slight buzz, albeit briefly.
We just had our first "town hall" all-office meeting of 2016, which was dense with information, very little of it all that exciting. They did have Lori, VP of Store Development, get up and give us updates on the four stores currently under construction: Ballard, West Seattle, Bellevue, Downtown Seattle -- and even an update on the Madison Valley store that gets constantly postponed due to ridiculous neighborhood pushback against the overall development (which PCC is merely part of, not its spearhead). She says they hope to break ground on that one by April, but given the initial opening date was announced to be 2017, I'm not holding my breath.
Then, as always, they provided lunch. Not the greatest options for vegetarians, I thought, but the tangerine farro salad was shockingly tasty, and I do always love me some cheese and crackers. So lunch was good after all, I suppose. There was also some lemon bars set out later and I snagged one of those. Delicious.
I had a fun conversation with people at my table about how much I hate all rodents and bunnies.
