brief farewell
Well! You know what? I spent most of my morning actually working. What a concept! I don't even have a huge workload on my plate today.
The reason, really, is that I have virtually nothing pressing to tell you about today. My evening consisted mostly of a visit back at Steamworks, only to get virtually no action -- I'm declaring that visit a bust. So, I'm glad I used a coupon and got in for the discounted amount of $11. Wasting $11 is way better than wasting $16. Every dollar counts, people!
Oh, I guess there is one thing to tell you -- Arvin organized a surprise going-away party for Alicia yesterday afternoon: chocolate and cheese. He invited everyone on the "Staff Records & Personnel" alias (15 people), plus Lynne and me. Lynne wasn’t in the office yesterday, and when Arvin's first email said it would be at 4:30, I wrote back that that was when I was leaving -- technically I could have made that work, but I had errands to run on my way home, including getting a residual check deposited into Shobhit's bank account for him before the bank closed. After that, Arvin changed the time to 3:30.
I only stayed for 15 minutes, although I was the most punctual one to show up right at 3:30 when Alicia was in a nearby meeting room with her back turned. Arvin waved me over and gathered everyone else around, and we all gave her a round of applause when she came out of the meeting room. It was very sweet. I never actually talked to her during this party, as plenty of other people were, but I did take several pictures while I was there, and emailed them to her when I got back to my desk. "Haha!" she wrote, "Of course you were documenting..."
I also rode my bike to work yesterday, for the first time I believe since October (although I did do the Highway 99 tunnel and viaduct bike ride last month). I stopped to get movie tickets for Saturday at the Regal Meridian Theatre first, then rode up to the US Bank on Broadway before riding the rest of the way, and that sort of broke up the usual route and kind of made it easier for my first time back on the bike. I did have to gear all the way down to get up the John St Hill to 15th Avenue, but I made it. I rode my bike again today, mostly to give myself enough time to get home first to feed the cats before meeting Laney for Happy Hour at 5:30.
