There could have been as many as 21 or even 23, except a) neither Gina or Beth made it because Beth was visiting family in Sioux City, Iowa and Gina was visiting a friend in Victoria (I had to tell her on Saturday we were just across the water from her, on San Juan Island -- closer even than either Port Angeles or Vancouver would have been, those being her first assumptions); and b) Britni and David didn't make it because Britni got called into work at the last minute.
Also I think it's generally agreed that this is likely the last family holiday Eric will attend. Sherri invited him this time in an effort not to "take sides," but he's now kind of exasperating everyone. I feel for him on one level, as he'll miss being part of this family. On the other hand, according to Jennifer, Eric has been blabbing all about all their problems to everyone he knows in her family, but not at all to anyone in his own family. And you know what? That's legitimately weird.
He actually broke down crying when he followed Dad to come outside today when he was saying goodbye to Shobhit and me. Eric gave Shobhit a hug, then me, and I reciprocated sincerely. But, then he started to cry; he said, "I just want you to know I was good to her"; and I was just like, "Yeah." Then for a moment we all just stood around awkwardly in silence for a moment until Eric finally turned and went back inside the house. This was after Jennifer had left with the kids, by the way; and he also came by a couple of hours early, arriving before Jennifer could. This understandably exasperated Jennifer as she was coming early herself, in a vain attempt at getting in some time to visit at a family function without him looming.
He did make me homemade eggnog that I got to take home, though. I do appreciate that.
Anyway! I've already written way more than I intended to. It's late-ish and I still want to watch this week's Game of Thrones. You can view the Easter photo set here, although it will be a day or two before I get to even tagging them, let alone captioning them.
