I think this pair of red jeans I'm wearing is on its last legs. (Get it? LAST LEGS??) I've got a hole just to the left of my crotch, upper inner thigh, which I think is maybe the one and only place a hole could be that no one would notice. So long as it doesn't get any bigger, anyway. It's going to get bigger if I wear these jeans any longer. I'll probably wear them once more tomorrow and then toss them into my bag of trash clothes that will eventually be taken to Goodwill.
It's a good thing I already purchased a pair of replacement red jeans some time ago. It was probably from a Black Friday sale. I've just been keeping it around until this pair falls apart. I'm all about efficiency!
In other news, the state of my physical health is somewhat in question, I feel like. I probably could have stayed home sick today, but I chose not to. Scott and Noah are on store tours since it's Thursday, so I'm not really around anyone much to share germs with. I'm out all next week and want to get as much done today and tomorrow as I can, although I'm still taking it as easy as I can under the circumstances.
I woke up around 3:45 this morning and at that point I was thinking I was almost certainly too sick to go into work. My throat felt seriously sore. But, I decided to wait on making a final decision until I woke up again with my alarm. This wouldn't be the first time just getting that one last hour or two of sleep seemed to do a lot of good and make a difference -- and, indeed, I felt far better when I got out of bed at about 5:15. I feel very slightly fatigued, but the soreness of my throat was almost completely gone. My theory now is the feeling in my throat at 3:45 was more to do with probably snoring with my mouth open, or something to that effect, complicating things.
There's not much to tell about last night, as it was a pretty quiet evening at home. I did some dishes. Shobhit and I watched the first three episodes of the first season of Pose, which recently became available on Netflix, and we were pretty much immediately into it. Otherwise I would have only watched two episodes and then gone to bed, which was probably what I should have done.
The huge pot of lentil soup is now in its own last throes of existence; it yielded dinner for both of us last night and then I packed the last of it into two lunch boxes. I still took a pizza to work today, which I plan to have tomorrow but took today as insurance in case anything came up with Karen for lunch today.
Thus, I just got back from lunch with Karen down at the Six-Seven Restaurant at the Edgewater Hotel. The weather was perfect for my walk down there and back -- if only the entire summer could be like this!
While at lunch, Karen told me a lot about her trip with the United States Access Board (of which she has been a member since 2010!) to Indianapolis. She had no excitement whatsoever about visiting that city, and found it to be a surprisingly delightful and informative visit, particularly in the context of disability access, which was a lot of fun to hear about. She even found herself shocked to be fascinated by a visit to the Indy 500 Motor Speedway, where they were all very welcoming to the visiting board members. I mean, nothing she told me put Indianapolis any higher on my list of visiting priorities, but it was still fun to hear about a place being far more fun than initially expected.
My hope is that my brief visit to Syracuse, New York next week will have some element of that. I already expect to be wowed by both Toronto and Niagara Falls.
In other news, maybe you noticed there are no DLU photos in today's post? Well, Flickr has been down for maintenance since yesterday and I have literally no access to any of my online photos. I find it very annoying, but you know, whatever. I think we can all suck it up and move on from this unfortunate situation.
