Mon, 9:56: Last Wednesday, the ignition in Shobhit's car locked, and so did the steering wheel. None of the plethora of suggestions online that insist it's easy to fix have worked, and because of Shobhit's sporadic work shifts he can't have someone come take a look at it until tomorrow.
Between the service reductions due to COVID-19, and further service disruptions downtown (where he has to transfer) over the weekend, taking public transit to work has been challenging for him at best.
In historical context and comparatively speaking, this problem amounts to virtually nothing. I do feel for those essential workers who are much worse off and rely on transit to get where they need to be, though.
A nice sentiment at the start of the first #Pride Month in history with no public gatherings or events scheduled.
And by the way: for any queer people quick to judge the events of this past weekend, you would do well to note that STONEWALL WAS A RIOT (ignited largely by trans people of color, incidentally). These events you celebrate every June commemorate exactly that. It wasn’t “peaceful protest” that paved the road to the rights and privileges you enjoy today. So: you can get sanctimonious about this past weekend’s events, or you can celebrate Pride, but you CANNOT in good faith do both.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
