CoronaQuarantine, Day 82: Seattle Protests, Day 3

I'll have to try and make this quick today, as I totally spaced and never worked on a draft before my lunch break! I did take some time to post about the protests last night moving to Capitol Hill, on both Facebook and Twitter, which Shobhit later tried to say I spent "all morning" on and that was total bullshit. He only did that because I mentioned how much work I have to get done today, after I went down to the garage with him twice to try new suggestions for unlocking his ignition.

It seems to have been narrowed down to it being an ignition problem specifically. The mechanic he called this morning told him about a button you can push by the automatic shift with a screw driver that should do a reset to unlock the steering wheel, but no matter what we did that wouldn't work either. Now he's looking at calling AAA Thursday morning to come and possibly tow the car to a place where it can actually get worked on. So, at the very minimum a couple more days of public transit to work for him.

He's scheduled for swing shifts at Total Wine & More both tonight and tomorrow night, and Shobhit is clearly hoping for yet another curfew that might prevent him from having to work today. He hasn't had two days off of work in a row since May 5 and 6, and his only other day off since then was Wednesday last week. He's tired.

Anyway. As you could see from the post I linked to, with plenty of video clips I did not record myself because I never went outside yesterday, the protest moved yesterday again from downtown to Capitol Hill, and things got out of hand after dark. I was careful not to bitch on social media about that fucking helicopter that hovered directly above our neighborhood for literally hours, but I guess I will here—while acknowledging that it's literally nothing compared to the plight of black citizens of this country. This isn't a "plight" of any kind, it's just a helicopter. It was still loud and annoying! Also, I don't even know what need there was for it, nor do I know if it was a news helicopter or a police helicopter. I had to shut my window on a warm night just so I could sleep.

What is in store today remains to be seen. I have plans to walk to the office with Alexia after work, but it looks like we'll have to play it by ear. There are already demonstrators downtown now, but depending on where they are, we may still fairly easily be able to avoid them. Whether or not a curfew for a fourth night in a row will go into effect will also likely be a deciding factor. I'm supposed to get my closed receiver reports back to the office by tomorrow after I work through them today, but AP might have to deal just this once. I'm still kind of hoping things start calming down, which is a very selfish hope I realize, but, we'll see.

Otherwise I just spent last night either eating dinner or watching TV shows, sometimes with Shobhit and sometimes in the bedroom. He had his first-ever Zoom meeting with the Gym Committee.
