Another brief one today! Although I do want to start by saying how grateful I am that our high in Seattle today is set to be in the mid-sixties—something I don't think has happened in weeks. And to be fair, this summer so far has had very little in the way of major heat waves, but, this is also the first summer I have had to work entirely from home, and we do no have air conditioning. It doesn't have to be particularly extreme heat outside for the condo to get horribly warm. I keep getting annoyingly sweaty palms.

I was complaining about the heat in the condo yesterday and Shobhit acted like I was an idiot for letting the bedroom standing fan continue moving back and forth instead of fixing it just on me and increasing the speed. Well, I tried that, and honestly that was just annoying, getting blown that hard by wind from a fan two feet away from my face (and we don't move it because we keep it standing in front of the window, near the outlet). That said, I did find a suitable compromise and turn it so that when it moves back and forth it stays on me just a bit longer, and then I was mostly fine.

And incidentally, much as I'm loving the rain this morning, I don't necessarily want an endless streak of cool rainy weather in August. So, I just love getting this cool break for one day; as of tomorrow it's back to sunshine and seventies for the foreseeable future.

Okay, now for the real updates. I talked to Dad for about an hour and ten minutes after work yesterday. When I first called him on his cell, surprisingly, Sherri answered—Dad was talking to their former Shipwreck Café employee, Dickie, on Sherri's phone. He called me back after a few minutes. I had totally forgotten they had gone on their own trip to Idaho for Dad's birthday; they went to Moscow (so, a two-hour, seventeen-minute drive southwest of Wallace; we were not especially close to each other, and they drove out on the day Shobhit and I were driving home anyway), which is right across the state line from Pullman, where I had gone to college. He did a bike ride early yesterday morning in Moscow before they left, and they were spending the night in Moses Lake, having laid down attempting to take a nap in their hotel when I called, but according to Sherri, people kept calling.

Anyway! I made the suggestion to Dad that we take a joint trip to Wallace sometime (I'd love it to be next summer) to take a bike ride on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, and he seemed open to the idea. I also suggested my taking a day trip down to Olympia sometime next month to take a bike ride there so we could get in at least one bike ride together in 2020. I want to buy a mask that's easier to breathe in when riding a bike, and he'll wear a mask too. I know I said previously I don't wear my mask when riding to the office and back, but in that case I'm not riding with anyone. And thankfully, Dad and Sherri, being kind of germophobes to begin with, are very conscientious mask-wearers, and even insist Aunt Raenae wear one if she gets in their car with them to go out to eat somewhere or whatever. I did say we'd still make this kind of tentative, with the hope that cases will start falling again by then, and maybe scrap it if the spread is even more out of hand than it is now. So we'll just keep assessing the situation there.

Shortly after the call with Dad, I called Gabriel, who had texted me in the morning to ask about having a call "in a bit," and apparently "a bit" to him means "eight hours." We had a nice conversation though, just catching up, even though the call dropped at least four times or more, and at one point I kept getting calls from him while we were already talking, and I would have to press "decline" as the call was already in progress, like, what the hell?

Lea still hasn't watched Watchmen. She needs to get her shit together.

Not long after that, I had the movie all queued up to start right at 8:00 when Shobhit got home from his half-shift at Total Wine & More, and we watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, which was great. We'll watch Part 2 tonight.
