Sat, 11:41: It's interesting to see the extent to which behaviors change after a hard date that was set for the easing of covid restrictions—such as in King County, today, when mask wearing is no longer required in most public spaces (but businesses can still require it at their discretion).
I swung into the nearby Trader Joe's a few minutes ago. The overwhelming majority was still wearing masks. I clocked one single employee going maskless, and one single shopper going maskless. I expect the numbers will steadily change as time goes on, but it was still interesting. Walking there and back, it remained common to see people wearing masks even walking outside, something I have not bothered with since probably 2020, because the risk outdoors has long been known to be minuscule. But, many people in my area have embraced excess caution from the start, so the social conditioning of these behaviors will likely be slower to wane than other areas of the country, or even the state.
I will likely continue wearing masks in indoor public spaces for a while myself, at least until daily case numbers prove to be unaffected by the policy change. They're still required in places like hospitals and public transit, which I continue wholeheartedly to support. I may wear a mask on planes for the rest of my life. And I sure as shit will continue to wash my hands every time I get home from somewhere, or first thing when I arrive at work, always for a full 20 seconds every time, as that is well documented to kill many potential germs and infections, Covid or otherwise. Some of us have really enjoyed not having so much as a cold for a solid two years.
Sat, 16:29: I'd call it upper mid-tier Pixar. The animation is not at peak Pixar standards, but the story is straight up wonderful. https://t.co/mQqE7cU7ab
