  • Fri, 08:05: I'm really enjoying "The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power," but it has also given me a new production pet peeve.

Every time there is an exterior shot of a ship at sea—which is always rendered in CGI, which is fine; by and large the effects on this show are actually pretty stunning—the boat does not do *any* bobbing up and down, no cresting over the waves of the sea. It just glides cleanly forward, as though skating on ice, even while they render "waves" where the boat is supposed to be cutting through the water.

I notice it every time and I find it very distracting. It's driving me crazy. Boats do not sail over the sea like a flat stone on ice. This isn't Olympic curling!
